Tidy the taxi
It is very easy to taxi too fast when your field of view is limited by the monitor and the body doesn't experience the aircraft movement. Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The real technique is to slow before the turn, then turn at steady speed, not enter fast and reduce the speed with the brakes mid-arc.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,363 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 233 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 15 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 21 at DIAP Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The takeoff distance was 1,854 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 14 knots at 240 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a headwind of 11 knots. The aircraft climbed to an altitude of 38,374 feet above sea level, an increase of 37,327 feet from the initial altitude of 1,047 feet. This climb took 28 minutes and covered a distance of 173 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started over DIAP Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport and continued until the aircraft reached a level cruise altitude. The level cruise started 19 miles west of Swedru, Ghana, and lasted for 12 minutes, covering a distance of 94 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, which started 22 miles west of Anloga, Ghana. The descent took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 124 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 38,388 feet to 2,058 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 5 miles west of Porto-Novo, Benin, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 24 at DBBB Cadjehoun Airport was made from the north-east, with the aircraft heading 233.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,276 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 24 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 234 meters, which was 34% of the runway length. The threshold speed was good at 132 knots, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 126 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -362 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 15 knots at 220 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 15 knots.
The total landing distance was 806 meters, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 15.3 meters from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 420 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 78 minutes. The aircraft used 2,900 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at DBBB Cadjehoun Airport, achieving a score of 92.4%. The final approach to runway 24 was initiated from the north east, heading 233.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,276 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating that the pilots maintained a suitable altitude prior to touchdown.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 132 kt, which was within the acceptable threshold speed range. However, the touchdown speed of 126 kt was slightly faster than desired, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -362 feet per minute (fpm). This may have contributed to the slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was off-center by 9.1 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 31°C and a wind speed of 15 kt from 220°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 kt, while the headwind component was 15 kt, which helped to stabilize the aircraft's approach. The total landing distance of 806 meters was within the acceptable range, accounting for 34% of the runway length.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was again found to be off-center, this time by 15.3 meters from the centerline. This may have been a result of the firm touchdown rate and the slight misalignment of the touchdown position. Despite these minor issues, the overall performance of the Airbus A319 was satisfactory, and the pilots demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft during the landing.
