Flight Score
Maintain the centreline
Not the biggest loss in points — the one thing on this flight a check pilot would raise first, and the guide passage for it.
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,080 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 2,080 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 480 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Wismar Airfield, EDCW, the XCub aircraft began its takeoff roll on runway 08, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 50 kt after covering 1,496 ft, which represented 72% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 59 °F and a moderate wind of 10 kt from 11 °, resulting in a 9 kt crosswind and a 4 kt headwind.
As the aircraft transitioned to the enroute climb phase, it began ascending from an initial altitude of 282 ft above sea level to 353 ft, a net increase of 71 ft over a period of 2 minutes, while covering a distance of 2 nm. This climb phase was initiated overhead Hornstorf, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The aircraft then proceeded to the final approach phase, descending from an altitude of 313 ft above ground level while heading 78.0 ° towards runway 08 at EDCW Wismar Airfield, located 1 nm away.
Upon landing, the XCub touched down on runway 08, which had a length of 2,080 ft, at a speed of 60 kt, which was slightly faster than the recommended threshold speed of 68 kt. The touchdown distance of 478 ft was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -96 fpm was excellent. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 15 ft from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also slightly off-centre by 29 ft. The total landing distance of 727 ft represented 35% of the available runway length. The flight, which covered a total distance of 3 nm, utilized 1 lb of fuel and lasted for 2 minutes.
The aircraft touched down on runway 08 at EDCW Wismar Airfield, demonstrating a good threshold height. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the desired level, registering at 68 kt. The touchdown distance was satisfactory, measuring 478 ft, and the touchdown speed of 60 kt was somewhat fast. The aircraft's descent rate was impressive, with a rate of -96 fpm, showcasing excellent control and precision.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's position on the runway was slightly off-centre, deviating by 15 ft from the centreline. This minor deviation was also observed during the rollout phase, where the aircraft strayed by 29 ft from the centreline. Despite these minor misalignments, the overall landing performance was satisfactory, with the aircraft coming to rest after a total distance of 727 ft, which accounted for 35% of the runway's length.
The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 59 °F and a wind speed of 10 kt at 11 °, contributed to a relatively straightforward landing. The crosswind component of 9 kt and the headwind component of 4 kt were manageable, allowing the pilot to maintain control throughout the approach and landing phases. Overall, the landing performance earned a score of 91.2%, reflecting a high level of proficiency and control.
