Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,652 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 552 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 08R at Vancouver International Airport (CYVR). The takeoff distance was 1,484 meters, which was 45% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 163 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 5°C temperature and a wind speed of 1 knot at 80 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, and the headwind was 1 knot. The aircraft climbed to an altitude of 35,171 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,130 feet from the initial altitude of 1,041 feet. This climb took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 157 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started over the Vancouver International Seaplane Base (CAM9), and the aircraft continued to climb to its cruising altitude. The enroute level cruise started 19 miles northeast of Penticton, British Columbia, and lasted for 64 minutes, covering a distance of 784 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent. The first descent started 3 miles west of Macgregor Airport (CKF6), and the aircraft descended from 35,641 feet to 27,581 feet, a decrease of 8,060 feet, in 6 minutes and covering 62 nautical miles. The second descent started 3 miles west of Brandon Municipal Airport (CYBR), and the aircraft descended from 27,612 feet to 2,085 feet, a decrease of 25,526 feet, in 23 minutes and covering 112 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 31 at Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (CYWG) was from the south east, heading 318.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,309 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown point 135 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 137 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -306 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were -20°C temperature and a wind speed of 7 knots at 320 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, and the headwind was 7 knots. The total landing distance was 1,394 meters, which was 53% of the runway length. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.1 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.8 meters from the centreline.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,138 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 122 minutes. The aircraft used 6,479 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (CYWG) on runway 31. The final approach was initiated from the southeast, heading 318.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,309 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 146 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 135 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 137 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was firm at -306 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 11.1 meters, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -20°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from 320°. The crosswind component was negligible, but the headwind component was 7 knots, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment of the touchdown position. The total landing distance was 1,394 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway length. During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 10.8 meters, which may have been due to the same factors that contributed to the initial touchdown position misalignment.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft maintaining a good threshold height, threshold speed, and touchdown speed. However, the slight misalignment of the touchdown position and rollout alignment may indicate areas for improvement in terms of pilot technique or aircraft handling.
