MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Fly the flare through
The four classic flare failures feel similar from the cockpit – most of them end in a firm arrival – but they leave different evidence, and two numbers are enough to separate them: how long the flare took (time from 50 ft to touchdown) and how hard the touchdown was. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,948 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 555 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway at London Luton Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 25, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 147 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 18 knots from a direction of 249 degrees, resulting in a headwind of 18 knots and a crosswind of 1 knot.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb from 1,415 feet above sea level to 4,833 feet, an increase of 3,417 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. This was followed by a level cruise that lasted 3 minutes and covered 14 nautical miles, starting 1 mile east of Little Gaddesden in Hertfordshire, England.
The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 6,005 feet to 33,866 feet, an increase of 27,861 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 117 nautical miles. This climb took place 1 mile north-west of Woburn Sands in Milton Keynes, England. Following this climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise that lasted 14 minutes and covered 105 nautical miles, starting 1 mile north-west of Pool in the City and Borough of Leeds, England.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent from 33,055 feet to 11,965 feet, a decrease of 21,090 feet in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 80 nautical miles. This descent took place 4 miles north-east of Bamburgh in Northumberland, England. The aircraft then entered another level cruise that lasted 3 minutes and covered 6 nautical miles, starting 2 miles south of Newtonhill in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The aircraft's next descent took place from 11,088 feet to 3,046 feet, a decrease of 8,043 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 27 nautical miles. This descent occurred 3 miles west of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Following this descent, the aircraft entered a level cruise that lasted 2 minutes and covered 4 nautical miles, starting 3 miles north-west of Tarves in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The final descent took place from 2,792 feet to 1,490 feet, a decrease of 1,303 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. This descent occurred 1 mile north of Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 16 at Aberdeen Dyce Airport, flying from the north at a heading of 158.0 degrees and at an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed on runway 16, which was 1,948 meters long, with a good threshold height. The threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 147 knots. The touchdown point was 136 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 141 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -330 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 4 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 371 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 81 minutes. The aircraft used 3,131 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at EGPD Aberdeen Dyce Airport, achieving a score of 95.3%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the north, heading 158.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 16, which has a length of 1,948 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down with a threshold speed that was slightly above the target speed of 147 knots. The touchdown point was 136 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal landing spot. However, the touchdown speed of 141 knots was a little fast, which may have contributed to the slightly longer landing distance.
The aircraft's touchdown rate was firm at -330 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and precision in navigating the aircraft to the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16°C, with a wind speed of 18 knots at 170°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 18 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly longer landing distance.
The total landing distance was 1,189 meters, which represents 61% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and coming to a stop within a reasonable distance. While there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters, the pilot's skill and experience were evident in the precision and control demonstrated during the landing.
