Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,162 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,162 m of the 3,590 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 625 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Luxembourg-Findel International Airport, taking approximately 4 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 24, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,443 meters, which was 36% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 153 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 320 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south east of Kirchberg, Luxembourg, and rising from an altitude of 2,156 feet above sea level to 34,544 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,388 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 109 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Langgons, Germany, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering 28 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Lauterbach Airfield, Germany, and descending from 34,523 feet above sea level to 9,726 feet above sea level, a decrease of 24,797 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 87 nautical miles. Another enroute level cruise started 1 mile east of Eckartsberga, Germany, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering 19 nautical miles.
The final enroute descent started overhead Poserna, Germany, and descended from 9,377 feet above sea level to 1,738 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,640 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 17 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 26R at Leipzig/Halle Airport, approaching from the east at a heading of 266.0 degrees, 4 nautical miles from the runway and 1,280 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 26R, which was 3,590 meters long. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 139 knots. The touchdown point was 208 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 136 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -311 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 12.0 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 300 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance was 2,080 meters, which was 58% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.0 meters from the centreline.
The aircraft then taxiied to the parking area from the runway, taking approximately 10 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 267 nautical miles, taking 62 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,933 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at EDDP Leipzig/Halle Airport, achieving a score of 87.7%. The final approach to runway 26R was initiated from the east, heading 266.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,280 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating a stable and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 138 kt, registering at 139 kt. However, the touchdown speed of 136 kt was a little fast, suggesting that the aircraft may have touched down with a slightly higher rate of descent than intended. The touchdown rate of -311 fpm was firm, indicating a controlled touchdown.
The touchdown point was located 208 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight overcorrection or a slight deviation from the intended flight path. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 12.0 meters from the centerline, suggesting that the aircraft may have drifted slightly during the landing roll.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14°C, with a wind speed of 4 kt from 300°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 kt, while the headwind component was 3 kt. The total landing distance of 2,080 meters was 58% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.0 meters from the centerline, suggesting that the pilots may have had difficulty maintaining a straight course during the landing roll. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some minor deviations from the intended flight path and speed, which may be addressed in future training or operations.
