Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
Not the biggest loss in points — the one thing on this flight a check pilot would raise first, and the guide passage for it.
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,080 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 2,080 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 762 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 1.69 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from EDCX Flugplatz Purkshof, the XCub aircraft initiated its departure roll on runway 27, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 72 kt. The takeoff distance of 2,105 ft accounted for 82% of the available runway length. Local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 59 °F and a moderate wind of 10 kt from a direction of 11 °, resulting in a slight tailwind component of 3 kt.
Following a brief enroute level cruise phase overhead Roevershagen, the aircraft transitioned into an enroute climb phase, ascending from 318 ft above sea level to 1,020 ft in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nm. This climb phase was followed by a prolonged enroute level cruise phase overhead Moenchhagen, lasting 22 minutes and covering a distance of 42 nm. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 08 at EDCW Wismar Airfield, aligning with the runway from the west at a heading of 79.0 ° and an altitude of 60 ft above ground level.
The XCub aircraft touched down on runway 08 at EDCW Wismar Airfield, with a touchdown distance of 603 ft, accounting for 39% of the available runway length. The touchdown speed of 45 kt was within acceptable limits, while the touchdown rate of -202 fpm was fair. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 20 ft. Following touchdown, the aircraft experienced a slight misalignment during rollout, deviating from the centreline by 41 ft. The total landing distance of 817 ft was within acceptable limits, and the aircraft utilized 23 lbs of fuel for the entire flight, covering a distance of 44 nm in 26 minutes.
The final approach to runway 08 at EDCW Wismar Airfield from the west was executed with good quality, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 79.0° at 0 nm and 60 ft above ground level. The pilot successfully managed the descent, achieving a good threshold height and maintaining a threshold speed of 57 kt. The touchdown distance of 603 ft was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown speed of 45 kt was also satisfactory.
However, the touchdown rate of -202 fpm was only fair, indicating a slightly higher-than-desired rate of descent. The aircraft touched down slightly off-centreline, 20 ft to the left of the runway centreline. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 59°F and a 10 kt wind at 10°, contributed to a crosswind of 9 kt and a headwind of 4 kt. Despite these conditions, the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing.
The total landing distance of 817 ft was 39% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned, with the aircraft deviating 41 ft to the left of the centreline. Overall, the landing was considered satisfactory, with a score of 92.4%. While there were some minor deviations from ideal performance, the pilot demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft throughout the approach and landing phases.
