Tidy the taxi
It is very easy to taxi too fast when your field of view is limited by the monitor and the body doesn't experience the aircraft movement. Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The real technique is to slow before the turn, then turn at steady speed, not enter fast and reduce the speed with the brakes mid-arc.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,196 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 373 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 21 at DIAP Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The takeoff distance was 1,913 meters, which accounted for 64% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 13 knots from a direction of 240 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 10 knots. The aircraft climbed to a height of 37,326 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,288 feet from the initial altitude of 1,038 feet, in 17 minutes and covering a distance of 86 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started over DIAP Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport and continued until the aircraft reached a level cruise altitude. The level cruise started 8 miles south east of DIDK Dimbokro Airport and lasted for 41 minutes, covering a distance of 287 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from a height of 37,284 feet above sea level to 3,014 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,271 feet, in 21 minutes and covering a distance of 119 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 13 miles west of GABA Bamako Airport and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 06 at GABS Modibo Keita International Airport was made from the south west, heading 56.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,240 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 06 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 376 meters, which was good. The touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was fair at -205 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 90 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,355 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 512 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 97 minutes. The aircraft used 3,157 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at GABS Modibo Keita International Airport, achieving a score of 99.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 56.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,240 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 06, which has a length of 3,196 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed of 131 knots was also within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 376 meters was also good, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient control and stability during the landing. However, the touchdown speed of 124 knots was slightly faster than the desired speed, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate.
The touchdown rate of -205 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slight bounce or oscillation during the landing. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 32°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 90°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. These conditions did not appear to have significantly impacted the landing, and the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach and touchdown.
The total landing distance of 1,355 meters was 42% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This suggests that the aircraft was able to maintain a high level of control and stability during the landing, and that the pilot was able to execute a smooth and efficient touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score of 99.7%.
