Improve the pattern base leg
The one change that would have gained the most on this flight, and the guide passage for it.
Bank angle in the pattern is conventionally kept to 20 to 30 degrees, and the base-to-final turn is where that convention earns its keep. Stall speed rises with bank because the wing must produce more lift in a turn. Roughly 7 per cent higher at 30 degrees, about 19 per cent at 45, and around 40 per cent at 60. At 65 kt on base you don't have much margin to spend steepening a turn to salvage an overshoot.

One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: six checks at the point nearest 500 ft above the runway after the base turn. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 493 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 493 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 176 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 22 at BGGH Nuuk Airport, where the SR22 aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 113 meters, which accounted for 23% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 79 knots. At the time of takeoff, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius and a strong wind blowing at 45 knots from a direction of 180 degrees. This resulted in a significant headwind component of 43 knots and a relatively minor crosswind component of 14 knots.
As the aircraft entered the right-hand pattern from runway 22, it demonstrated impressive agility, completing the turn in less than 1 nautical mile in just 17 seconds. The subsequent right-hand pattern crosswind turn was even quicker, taking only 7 seconds to complete. The pattern downwind turn was a bit longer, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile and involving an angle of 77.4 degrees to the runway. The downwind leg itself took 27 seconds to complete, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile.
The base leg turn was a bit more complex, involving a distance of 2 nautical miles and an angle of 34.4 degrees to the runway. The base leg itself was relatively short, taking only 8 seconds to complete. The final turn was the longest, taking 42 seconds to complete a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 22 from the north, heading 199.0 degrees at an altitude of 350 feet above ground level and a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway.
The landing itself was successful, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 77 knots, which was slightly faster than the target speed. The touchdown distance was good, at 176 meters, and the touchdown rate was excellent, at -97 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline, by 8.4 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at takeoff, with a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius and a wind blowing at 32 knots from a direction of 180 degrees.
The total landing distance was 250 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centreline, by 8.4 meters. Despite these minor issues, the landing was generally successful. The total flight distance was 4 nautical miles, and the flight took 3 minutes to complete, using 3 kilograms of fuel in the process.
The SR22 aircraft successfully landed at BGGH Nuuk Airport, achieving a score of 90.0%. The final approach was conducted from the north, heading 199.0° at 1 nautical mile and 350 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 22, which has a length of 493 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 86 knots. This may indicate a slight deviation from the ideal approach speed, but it did not appear to significantly impact the landing. The touchdown distance was good at 176 meters, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and the runway length.
However, the touchdown speed of 77 knots was a little fast, which may have contributed to a slightly higher rate of descent. The touchdown rate was excellent at -97 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a smooth and controlled descent. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.4 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or a miscalculation of the landing distance.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 5°C, with a wind speed of 32 knots at 180°. This resulted in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 31 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing. Despite these conditions, the pilot successfully managed the aircraft and achieved a good landing.
The total landing distance was 250 meters, which is 51% of the runway length. This is a relatively short distance, indicating a good landing performance. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.4 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the landing or a miscalculation of the rollout distance. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the ideal approach and landing parameters.
