Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,901 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,901 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 216 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a TBM 850, then departed from runway 21 at EGMD Lydd London Ashford Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,600 feet, which is 33% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 81 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 68°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at 240°.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb from 178 feet above sea level to 10,120 feet above sea level, an increase of 9,941 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 26 nautical miles. The climb took place over the Romney Marsh area in Kent, England. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 14 miles southeast of Eastbourne, East Sussex, England, and lasted for 43 minutes, covering a distance of 142 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent from 9,517 feet above sea level to 2,697 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,820 feet in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 46 nautical miles. The descent took place over the Ceton area in Normandie, France. After the descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which started over Cangey in Centre-Val de Loire, France, and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 23 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final descent from 2,707 feet above sea level to 2,027 feet above sea level, a decrease of 680 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The descent took place over Verneuil-sur-Indre in Centre-Val de Loire, France. Following the descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which started over Flere-la-Riviere in Centre-Val de Loire, France, and lasted for 22 minutes, covering a distance of 31 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 22 at LFEG Argenton-sur-Creuse Airfield was made from the north-east, heading 215.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,346 feet above ground level. The landing on the runway was successful, with a touchdown distance of 208 feet and a touchdown speed of 69 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. However, the touchdown rate was heavy at -661 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 27 feet from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 85°F and a wind speed of 3 knots at 90°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the tailwind was 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,199 feet, which is 63% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 26 feet from the centreline. After landing, the aircraft took 2 minutes to taxi to the parking, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 278 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 1 hour and 8 minutes. The aircraft used 603 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at LFEG Argenton-sur-Creuse Airfield, achieving a score of 90.4%. The final approach was conducted from the north east, heading 215.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,346 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 22, which has a length of 1,901 feet.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 74 knots. This may indicate a slight delay in the pilot's decision to flare, which could have contributed to the subsequent touchdown speed being a little fast at 69 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 208 feet, but the touchdown rate was heavy at -661 feet per minute (fpm), suggesting that the aircraft may have touched down with a higher than ideal rate of descent.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 27 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 85°F and a wind of 3 knots at 90°, resulting in a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,199 feet, which is 63% of the runway length.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned by 26 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's control inputs during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the ideal performance, which may be addressed through further training and practice.
