MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Improve the touchdown
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,657 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 241 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A330-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 16R at RJAA Narita International Airport in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 16R, the aircraft used 1,999 m of runway, representing 50 % of the available length, and lifted off at 171 kt; local weather reported a temperature of 26 °C, wind 4 kt from 30°, a 4 kt crosswind and a 2 kt tailwind.
Climb commenced one mile south of RJAA, with the airplane ascending from 1,068 ft asl to 35,996 ft asl, an increase of 34,928 ft achieved in 27 minutes while covering 179 nm.
The first cruise segment began seven miles north of Shinshiro (Aichi-ken, Japan) and continued for 124 minutes, during which the aircraft travelled 964 nm.
Descent started 42 miles north-east of Jiufen (Taipei, Taiwan), descending from 35,789 ft asl to 3,104 ft asl, a loss of 32,684 ft in 15 minutes and a distance of 92 nm.
A brief cruise followed five miles north of RCPO Hsinchu Air Base, lasting two minutes and covering five nautical miles.
The next descent began eight miles north-east of Hsinchu, Taiwan, with the aircraft dropping from 2,977 ft asl to 578 ft asl, a decrease of 2,399 ft in four minutes over nine nautical miles.
A go-around was executed on runway 05L at RCTP Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at an altitude of 458 ft agl.
On the final approach to runway 05L at RCTP, the aircraft descended from 1,335 ft agl to 70 ft agl in 103 seconds and was recorded as having scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 05L, which is 3,657 m long, the threshold speed was 139 kt; touchdown occurred 241 m down the runway at 137 kt with a touchdown rate of minus 542 fpm and very good alignment. Local weather at the time was 27 °C, wind 5 kt from 80°, a 2 kt crosswind and a 4 kt headwind. Total landing distance measured 995 m, representing 27 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was offset by 7.7 m from the centreline.
After touchdown, the aircraft rolled out and then taxied to the parking area in 7 minutes, traversing 2 nm.
In total, the flight covered 1,314 nm, required 203 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 18,791 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A330-900 completed a stabilised approach at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits, and was scored on the stabilisation gates. The final approach to runway 05L at RCTP Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport descended from 1,335 ft agl to 70 ft agl in 103 seconds.
At threshold the aircraft encountered a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 139 kt on a runway 3,657 m long.
Touchdown occurred 241 m down the runway at a good speed of 137 kt, with a very hard touchdown rate of minus 542 fpm and a very good runway-touchdown alignment; local weather was 27 °C, wind 5 kt from 080°, crosswind 2 kt and headwind 4 kt.
The total landing distance was 995 m, representing 27 % of the runway, and the rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.7 m from the centreline.
Refine flare timing to reduce the touchdown rate and achieve a smoother arrest, and focus on maintaining centreline tracking during rollout to eliminate the small lateral deviation.
