Keep the approach speed on target
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,594 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 386 m short of the threshold.
The rest of the report
Departing from Gimpo International Airport's runway 32R, the Cessna Skyhawk began its takeoff roll, accelerating down the 2,700-meter-long asphalt surface. The aircraft's wheels left the ground after a distance of 477 meters, representing 13% of the available runway length. At this point, the aircraft had reached a liftoff speed of 52 knots, marking the transition from ground effect to flight.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered a calm and stable atmosphere, with a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a gentle breeze blowing at 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees. The wind conditions resulted in a negligible crosswind component and a slight headwind, both of which were minimal at 1 knot. The aircraft's climb performance was not significantly impacted by these conditions, allowing it to ascend smoothly into the local air traffic control's assigned altitude.
After a short flight of approximately 1 nautical mile, the aircraft began its descent, touching down back at Gimpo International Airport. The total flight time was a mere 6 minutes, and the aircraft's fuel consumption during this brief excursion was a negligible 0 kilograms. The aircraft's performance was consistent with its design specifications, and the flight was completed without incident.
The Boeing 737-800 touched down on runway 30 at LYBE Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport with a satisfactory approach quality, despite a slightly above-target threshold speed of 144 kt. The aircraft maintained a good descent profile, with a touchdown speed of 130 kt, which was within acceptable limits. The touchdown point was located 313 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, resulting in a fair touchdown rate of -236 fpm.
The aircraft's alignment with the runway centerline was excellent throughout the rollout phase, with perfect centerline alignment observed. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 22 °C and a gentle headwind of 4 kt, contributed to a smooth and controlled touchdown. The runway length of 2,993 meters was sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance of 1,237 meters, which represented 41% of the available runway.
The overall performance of the landing was satisfactory, with a final score of 96.3%. The crew's ability to manage the aircraft's speed and descent profile was commendable, despite the slightly above-target threshold speed. The perfect centerline alignment during the rollout phase was a notable achievement, demonstrating the crew's attention to detail and proficiency in executing a safe and controlled landing.
