MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,601 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,601 m of the 2,211 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 272 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from London Stansted Airport, the Boeing 737-800 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. As the aircraft reached the runway threshold, it initiated its departure roll on runway 22, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 159 knots. The takeoff distance of 1,682 meters was 55% of the runway length, a testament to the aircraft's efficient performance in hot and humid conditions, with a temperature of 32°C and a headwind of 9 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, reaching an altitude of 34,961 feet in just 14 minutes, covering a distance of 140 nautical miles. The climb was initiated 1 mile south east of Birchanger, Essex, and continued until the aircraft reached the enroute level cruise altitude of 34,369 feet, 1 mile south east of Kortrijk, Belgium. The cruise phase lasted for 25 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 545 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, reducing its altitude from 34,369 feet to 1,635 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 136 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 15 at Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport was initiated from the north west, with the aircraft heading 153.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,236 feet above ground level. The landing was executed with a threshold speed slightly above target at 150 knots, and a touchdown distance of 272 meters, which was good considering the runway length of 2,209 meters. However, the touchdown speed of 149 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was hard at -497 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centreline. After a smooth rollout, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took just 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 831 nautical miles, and the aircraft used 7,602 kilograms of fuel during the journey, which took a total of 66 minutes.
The Boeing 737-800 touched down on runway 15 at LIRA Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport, demonstrating a good threshold height. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 150 kt, indicating a slight deviation from the optimal approach speed. The aircraft's touchdown distance of 272 m was within acceptable limits, but the touchdown speed of 149 kt was a little fast, suggesting that the pilot may have been unable to fully arrest the descent before touchdown.
The aircraft's touchdown rate was hard at -497 fpm, which is consistent with a slightly fast touchdown speed. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 m from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight drift or crosswind effect. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 27 °C and a wind of 4 kt at 260 °, were relatively calm, with a minimal crosswind component of 4 kt and a slight tailwind of 1 kt.
The aircraft's rollout was smooth and well-aligned, with perfect alignment to the centreline. The total landing distance of 1,525 m was 69% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. Overall, the landing was satisfactory, with a score of 97.0%. While there were some minor deviations from the optimal approach and touchdown characteristics, the pilot's skills and the aircraft's performance were sufficient to ensure a safe and controlled landing.
