Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,591 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 406 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 taxied from the parking area to runway 33L at KBOS Logan International Airport in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nm.
Departure roll on runway 33L was executed with a takeoff distance of 2,012 m, representing 65 % of the runway length, and liftoff was achieved at 160 kt. Local weather at the time included a temperature of 26 °C, wind from 180 ° at 7 kt, a 5 kt crosswind component and a 5 kt tailwind component.
Climb commenced overhead Chelsea, Massachusetts, with the aircraft ascending from 946 ft asl to 31,977 ft asl, an increase of 31,031 ft achieved in 15 minutes while covering 84 nm.
Level cruise began over Granville, Massachusetts, and continued for 139 minutes, during which 922 nm were flown at cruise altitude.
A second climb segment started 3 mi north-west of Gilmore, Arkansas, raising the aircraft from 32,001 ft asl to 35,765 ft asl, a gain of 3,764 ft in 3 minutes and covering 23 nm.
The next cruise phase originated 2 mi north of Wynne, Arkansas, lasting 38 minutes and encompassing 286 nm of level flight.
Descent was initiated 1 mi south of Bonham, Texas, with the aircraft descending from 35,998 ft asl to 1,821 ft asl, a loss of 34,178 ft over 21 minutes while traveling 123 nm.
Final approach to runway 17L at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport was conducted from the north, on a heading of 180.0 °, at 4 nm and 1,243 ft agl.
Landing on runway 17L was performed with a runway length of 2,591 m; the threshold speed was 146 kt, touchdown occurred at 140 kt, and the touchdown distance was 405 m. Touchdown rate was minus 275 fpm and runway touchdown alignment was perfect. Local weather reported a temperature of 32 °C, wind 2 kt from 48 °, a 2 kt crosswind and a 1 kt tailwind.
Runway rollout alignment remained perfect, and the total landing distance recorded was 1,381 m, representing 53 % of the runway length.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nm.
Overall, the flight covered 1,452 nm, required 246 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 8,653 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 05R at NZAA Auckland International Airport was flown from the south-west on a heading of 67.0° at 2 NM and 815 ft AGL. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1 000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits. Local conditions were 16 °C with a wind of 21 kt from 35°, providing a 12 kt cross-wind component and a 17 kt head-wind component.
During the threshold and flare segment the aircraft established a threshold speed slightly below target at 82 kt. The flare produced a touchdown speed of 65 kt, which was judged good, and a touchdown rate of -55 fpm, rated excellent. The aircraft touched down 178 m beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 3.1 m from the centreline.
Touchdown occurred with the aircraft positioned 178 m beyond the designated zone and laterally offset 3.1 m from centreline. Total landing distance measured 689 m, representing 21 % of the 3 284 m runway length. The performance figures and alignment were recorded as good to excellent.
Rollout alignment was reported as very good, with the aircraft remaining on the centreline throughout the deceleration phase.
The minor overshoot of the touchdown zone and the small lateral offset suggest focusing on achieving the aim point approximately 300 m (1 000 ft) down the runway and refining lateral guidance to centreline during flare. Maintaining the current speed and rate control will preserve the overall high score of 94.7 %.
