MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,635 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,635 m of the 3,755 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 453 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 08R at Vancouver International Airport (CYVR), with the aircraft taking off after covering 80% of the 2,616-meter runway at a liftoff speed of 188 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 11°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots blowing from a direction of 100°. The aircraft experienced a headwind of 4 knots, with no crosswind.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it passed over Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, and began its ascent from an altitude of 1,035 feet above sea level to 33,958 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,923 feet in 14 minutes. The aircraft covered a distance of 185 nautical miles during this climb.
The enroute level cruise started 7 miles northeast of Port Hardy Airport (CYZT) and lasted for 22 minutes, covering a distance of 860 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb, this time from 33,848 feet to 35,768 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,921 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 108 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued its journey, making several more level cruises and climbs, passing over various locations, including Port Hardy, Kodiak, Alaska, and Shikotan, Russia. The aircraft also made a descent from 39,413 feet to 38,396 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,018 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 38 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final descent, passing over Mungyeong, South Korea, and began its descent from 40,212 feet to 1,293 feet above sea level, a decrease of 38,919 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 93 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 33R at Incheon International Airport (RKSI) was made from the south east, with the aircraft heading 325.0° at an altitude of 1,258 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 33R was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 143 knots, which was slightly faster than the recommended threshold speed. The touchdown distance was 454 meters, which was within the acceptable range. However, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 20.6 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 1,557 meters, which was 41% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 19.8 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 4,605 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 166 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 63,727 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner successfully landed at RKSI Incheon International Airport's runway 33R, achieving a score of 90.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southeast, heading 325.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,258 feet above ground level.
The landing was executed with good threshold height and speed, reaching 152 knots at the threshold. The touchdown distance was also satisfactory, measuring 454 meters. However, the touchdown speed of 143 knots was slightly faster than ideal, and the touchdown rate of -278 feet per minute was only fair.
One notable issue during the landing was the significant misalignment of the runway touchdown position, deviating by 20.6 meters from the centerline. This misalignment persisted even after the aircraft came to a stop, with the runway rollout alignment being off by 19.8 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 2°C and a gentle wind of 5 knots at 40°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. The total landing distance covered by the aircraft was 1,557 meters, which accounted for 41% of the runway length.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown speed and runway alignment.
