Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,023 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,023 m of the 3,191 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 707 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 02C at Singapore Changi Airport (WSSS). The takeoff distance was 1,768 meters, which accounted for 44% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 184 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Singapore Changi Airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 28°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 102 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started 1 mile north-east of the airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,017 feet above sea level to 29,590 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,573 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 123 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 3 miles north-east of Tampin, Malaysia, and lasted for 147 minutes, covering a distance of 1,251 nautical miles. The aircraft then underwent another enroute climb, this time from 30,000 feet to 31,998 feet, an increase of 1,998 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 29 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started at a new location, where it lasted for 173 minutes, covering a distance of 1,351 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued to climb and cruise, with another enroute climb from 32,000 feet to 33,750 feet, an increase of 1,749 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started at a new location and lasted for 189 minutes, covering a distance of 1,293 nautical miles. The aircraft then underwent another enroute climb, this time from 34,000 feet to 35,996 feet, an increase of 1,996 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 27 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 5 miles north of Mosul, Iraq, and lasted for 232 minutes, covering a distance of 1,769 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting overhead Nordwalde, Germany, and descending from 35,299 feet to 1,284 feet, a decrease of 34,015 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 106 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 06 at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (EHAM) was made from the south-west, heading 58.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,284 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 06, which had a length of 3,191 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 148 knots.
The touchdown point was 289 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 143 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -207 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.4 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 0°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 70 degrees, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,941 meters, which accounted for 61% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 5,971 nautical miles, taking 810 minutes, and the aircraft used 112,449 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, achieving a score of 93.2%. The final approach to runway 06 was conducted from the south west, with a heading of 58.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,284 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with a threshold speed of 148 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown speed of 143 knots was slightly faster than ideal, resulting in a touchdown rate of -207 feet per minute, which was fair. The touchdown point was 289 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.4 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the aircraft's alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 0°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 70°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 4 knots, which may have contributed to the slight deviation from the centerline.
The total landing distance of 1,941 meters was 61% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively to bring the aircraft to a stop.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score of 93.2%. However, there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters, including a slightly fast touchdown speed and a slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position.
