Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,991 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 243 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 05 at Luang Phabang International Airport (VLLB) in Laos. The takeoff distance was 1,296 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 151 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 269 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northeast of the airport and ascending from an altitude of 2,057 feet above sea level to 31,806 feet above sea level. This climb covered a distance of 115 nautical miles and took 22 minutes, with an increase in altitude of 29,749 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 14 miles west of Nan in Thailand and lasted for 9 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 67 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 10 miles east of San Kamphaeng Airport in Thailand and lasted for 20 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 32,065 feet above sea level to 1,334 feet above sea level. This descent covered a distance of 85 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 11 at Mae Hong Son Airport (VTCH) was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 108.0 degrees at an altitude of 428 feet above ground level and 2 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was successful, with a touchdown speed of 139 knots and a touchdown distance of 245 meters. The touchdown rate was fair at -293 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 359 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 0 knots. The total landing distance was 1,187 meters, which accounted for 60% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 272 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 58 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 3,128 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at VTCH Mae Hong Son Airport, achieving a high score of 99.2%. The final approach to runway 11 was conducted from the west, with a heading of 108.0° at an altitude of 428 feet above ground level (agl) and 2 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft maintained a steady descent, ultimately touching down on the runway with a speed of 139 knots, which was within the acceptable threshold speed of 140 knots.
The touchdown distance of 245 meters was also within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled landing. However, the touchdown rate of -293 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slight bounce or oscillation upon touchdown. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C and a light wind of 2 knots from 359°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component of 1 knot and no headwind component. The total landing distance of 1,187 meters was 60% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft maintained perfect alignment with the runway centerline, indicating a smooth and controlled deceleration. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and rolling out without any issues. However, the fair touchdown rate and slight bounce upon touchdown suggest that the pilots may need to make some adjustments to their landing technique to achieve a more consistent and controlled touchdown.
