MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,706 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,706 m of the 2,694 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 693 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 07 at EGGW London Luton Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,188 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 1 °C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at a direction of 20°. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of EGGW London Luton Airport. The climb took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 76 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,415 feet above sea level to 27,578 feet above sea level, an increase of 26,163 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 10 miles south west of Seaford, England. This phase lasted for 18 minutes and covered a distance of 129 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Pace, France. The descent took 23 minutes and covered a distance of 100 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 27,428 feet above sea level to 473 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,955 feet.
The final approach to runway 21 at LFRS Nantes Atlantique Airport was made from the north east, with a heading of 205.0°. The aircraft was at an altitude of 389 feet above ground level and 1 nautical mile from the runway at this point. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11 °C, with a wind speed of 23 knots at a direction of 219°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 23 knots.
The landing on runway 21 was made at a speed of 165 knots, which was well above the target speed. The touchdown point was 276 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 154 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was very heavy at -797 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The total landing distance was 1,625 meters, which accounted for 60% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect.
The final taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 8 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 310 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 70 minutes. The aircraft used 3,102 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at LFRS Nantes Atlantique Airport, but with some notable deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, heading 205.0° at 1 nautical mile and 389 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 21, which has a length of 2,694 meters.
Upon analysis, it appears that the threshold height at 118 feet agl was significantly higher than the target, indicating that the aircraft was not properly configured for landing. Additionally, the threshold speed was well above the target at 165 knots, suggesting that the aircraft was not slowed down sufficiently before touchdown. The touchdown point was 276 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively significant distance.
The touchdown speed of 154 knots was slightly faster than ideal, and the touchdown rate of -797 feet per minute (fpm) was extremely heavy, indicating a hard landing. However, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, which is a positive aspect of the landing. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11°C, wind speed of 23 knots at 219°, with a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 23 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,625 meters was 60% of the runway length, which is a relatively high percentage. Nevertheless, the runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the rollout phase. Overall, while the landing was not ideal, the aircraft was able to safely touch down on the runway, and the pilot's skills were able to mitigate some of the deviations from the target parameters.
