Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,576 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,576 m of the 3,015 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 786 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the departure roll from runway 12 at SBFN Fernando de Noronha Airport, where the Black Square Starship N45FL took off with a takeoff distance of 811 meters, which accounted for 44% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 105 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 18 knots at 120 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 16 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile east of the airport, rising from an altitude of 1,024 feet above sea level to 36,368 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,345 feet in 25 minutes, covering a distance of 86 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began 86 miles northeast of the airport and lasted for 246 minutes, covering a distance of 1,130 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 35 miles south of GVFM Francisco Mendes Praia, where the aircraft descended from 36,546 feet above sea level to 1,293 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,253 feet in 28 minutes, covering a distance of 112 nautical miles. Following this, the aircraft entered another enroute level cruise, this time lasting only 10 minutes and covering 30 nautical miles, as it flew 1 mile southwest of Sal Rei.
The final approach to runway 01 at GVAC Amílcar Cabral International Airport was made from the south, heading 360 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,070 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 01 was successful, with the aircraft touching down 358 meters beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 94 knots. The touchdown rate was good at -159 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 17.5 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 5 knots at 360 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The total landing distance was 1,483 meters, accounting for 49% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 18.2 meters from the centerline. Taxiing to the parking from the runway took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 1,364 nautical miles, lasting 316 minutes and consuming 1,206 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft, Black Square Starship N45FL, successfully landed at GVAC Amílcar Cabral International Airport on runway 01. The final approach was initiated from the south, heading 360.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,070 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the landing was evaluated, and it scored 83.6%.
The aircraft's approach to the runway was satisfactory, with a threshold height above the target at 64 feet agl. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 113 knots. The touchdown point was 358 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which indicates that the aircraft landed slightly down the runway. The touchdown speed of 94 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -159 feet per minute (fpm) was also good.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from 360°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and a headwind of 5 knots. The runway length at GVAC Amílcar Cabral International Airport is 3,015 meters, which provided sufficient space for the aircraft to land and roll out.
However, there were some issues with the landing. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 17.5 meters from the centerline, which could have resulted in a longer rollout distance. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 18.2 meters from the centerline. This misalignment could have increased the risk of the aircraft deviating from the centerline during the rollout phase.
Despite these issues, the total landing distance of 1,483 meters was within 49% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. Overall, the landing was satisfactory, but there is room for improvement in terms of alignment and touchdown position.
