Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 719 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 719 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 100 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Goodwood Aerodrome (EGHR), the Kodiak 100 aircraft began its takeoff roll on runway 14, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 72 kt. The aircraft cleared the ground at 591 meters, utilizing 61% of the available runway length. The climb phase commenced shortly after, with the aircraft transitioning from a low altitude of 277 feet above sea level to a higher altitude of 182 feet above sea level, an increase of 95 feet in just one minute. This climb phase covered a distance of one nautical mile, demonstrating the aircraft's efficient climb capabilities.
As the aircraft continued on its route, it eventually began its final approach to runway 06 at EGHR, descending from an altitude of 79 feet above ground level. The aircraft maintained a heading of 54.0°, aligning itself with the runway. The touchdown speed was slightly below the target, at 61 kt, but the touchdown distance of 98 meters was within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -166 feet per minute was also satisfactory, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. Following a smooth touchdown, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking less than one minute to cover the short distance.
The total flight distance was 2 nautical miles, and the aircraft utilized a fuel reduction of 14 kg. The taxiing phase was brief, with the aircraft taking less than one minute to reach the parking area. The flight's overall performance was characterized by efficient climb and descent phases, as well as a smooth touchdown and taxiing sequence. The aircraft's handling and performance were consistent with its design specifications, demonstrating its suitability for short takeoff and landing operations.
The final approach to runway 06 at EGHR Goodwood Aerodrome from the south west was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 54.0° at 0 nm and 79 ft above ground level. The approach quality was excellent, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed that was slightly below the target at 61 kt. The aircraft touched down smoothly at a speed of 54 kt, with a touchdown distance of 98 m, which was well within the acceptable range.
The touchdown characteristics were good, with a touchdown rate of -166 fpm, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 15 °C and a light wind of 1 kt at 270°, resulting in a negligible crosswind and tailwind component. The total landing distance of 301 m was 42% of the runway length, indicating a good balance between speed and control.
The rollout phase was equally impressive, with the aircraft maintaining perfect alignment on the runway centerline. The overall performance was outstanding, with a score of 98.6%. The pilot's skill and attention to detail were evident throughout the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases, resulting in a safe and efficient landing.
