MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,683 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 569 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an RJ85, then departed from runway 36L at KHSV Huntsville International Carl T Jones Field. The takeoff distance was 1,426 meters, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 137 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 12 knots at 299 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile north of KHSV Huntsville International Carl T Jones Field, rising from an altitude of 1,631 feet above sea level to 30,149 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,518 feet, in 23 minutes and covering a distance of 126 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles south of 0KY5 Boyce Wafer Farm Airport Alvaton in Kentucky. This phase lasted for 21 minutes and covered a distance of 163 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent overhead Bromley in Kentucky, descending from 29,967 feet above sea level to 10,349 feet above sea level, a decrease of 19,617 feet, in 10 minutes and covering a distance of 70 nautical miles.
The aircraft entered another level cruise phase, this time starting 5 miles south-east of Mount Sterling in Ohio, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 1 mile north of 63OH White's Airport Darbyville in Ohio, and descended from 9,847 feet above sea level to 2,057 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,790 feet, in 8 minutes and covering a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 23L at KLCK Rickenbacker International Airport was made from the north-east, with a heading of 232.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,308 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 23L, which had a length of 3,683 meters. The threshold height at 62 feet above ground level was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 116 knots.
The touchdown point was 209 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 103 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -147 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.6 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 200 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 7 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,081 meters, which accounted for 29% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 390 nautical miles, taking 81 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,732 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft in question, an RJ85, successfully landed at KLCK Rickenbacker International Airport on runway 23L. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 232.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,308 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its landing, achieving a score of 93.9%.
Upon reaching the runway, the aircraft's threshold height was found to be above the target, but the threshold speed was satisfactory at 116 knots. The touchdown point was located 209 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 103 knots was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -147 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a well-controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C and a gentle wind of 8 knots from 200°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft's approach. The total landing distance of 1,081 meters was 29% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll.
One minor issue was noted during the landing, where the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.6 meters from the centerline. However, the runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control and stability during the landing roll.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, with the pilot demonstrating a high level of skill and proficiency in navigating the aircraft to a safe touchdown.
