Track the centreline
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply. These checks are the approach's score.
At the 300 ft gate: centreline 1.4° off, against a 1° limit and wings 13° of bank, against a 10° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,866 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 544 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied to runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport and commenced the departure roll, achieving a take-off distance of 201 m (11 % of the runway) with a liftoff speed of 64 kt; ambient conditions were 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 269°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
A left-hand pattern entry was flown for 2 nm, completed in 24 seconds.
The subsequent left-hand pattern cross-wind leg covered less than 1 nm in 23 seconds.
During the pattern downwind turn the aircraft described a 2 nm arc with an angle to the runway of 50.6 degrees (45-degree reference).
The downwind leg extended 2 nm and was flown in 78 seconds.
The base-leg turn was a 1 nm maneuver with an angle to the runway of 56.8 degrees (45-degree reference).
The base leg itself was less than 1 nm long and lasted 41 seconds.
The final turn to the approach course was less than 1 nm and required 26 seconds.
On final approach to runway 23 the aircraft descended from 319 ft AGL to 42 ft AGL in 42 seconds and was recorded as having scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing was executed on runway 23, whose total length is 1 866 m; the aircraft touched down 114 m beyond the touchdown zone at a threshold speed of 54 kt and a touchdown speed of 34 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 21 fpm and a perfectly aligned touchdown; the total landing roll measured 649 m (35 % of the runway) and the rollout alignment was perfect, with weather remaining 15 °C, wind 2 kt from 270°, 1 kt cross-wind and 2 kt head-wind.
In summary, the flight covered a total distance of 9 nm, required 6 units of time as recorded, and consumed 1 kg of fuel.
The TL3000 Sirius conducted its final approach to runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport, descending from 319 ft AGL to 42 ft AGL in 42 seconds and receiving a score on the stabilisation gates.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft maintained a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 54 kt.
Touchdown occurred 114 m beyond the touchdown zone with a good touchdown speed of 34 kt, a perfect touchdown rate of minus 21 fpm and very good runway touchdown alignment.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 649 m, representing 35 % of the 1,866 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was perfect.
To improve the already strong performance reflected by the 88.5 % score, aim to achieve touchdown closer to the intended aim point rather than 114 m beyond the zone while preserving the excellent speed control and alignment already demonstrated.
