Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 305 m and 152 m above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,495 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 217 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 19 at LIRZ San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. The takeoff distance was 834 meters, which accounted for 38% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 141 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 27 knots at 200 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 27 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Ospedalicchio, a town in Umbria, Italy, and continued until the aircraft reached an altitude of 12,084 meters above sea level. This climb phase covered a distance of 90 nautical miles and took 21 minutes to complete, with the aircraft ascending by 11,575.2 meters.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 2 miles south west of Sambuca Pistoiese, a town in Toscana, Italy. This cruise phase lasted for 82 minutes and covered a distance of 537 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, which started overhead EBFN Koksijde Air Base in Koksijde, Flanders, Belgium. The descent phase took 21 minutes to complete and covered a distance of 95 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending by 11,230.1 meters.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles west of Penshurst, a town in Kent, England. This cruise phase was brief, lasting only 3 minutes and covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 26L at EGKK London Gatwick Airport, which was located to the east of the aircraft's position. The aircraft was heading at 258.0 degrees and was 4 nautical miles away from the runway at an altitude of 384.5 meters above ground level.
The landing on runway 26L was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 121 knots. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -2.6 meters per second. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.7 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 18 knots at 310 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,163 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 8.6 meters from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 739 nautical miles, and the flight took a total of 145 minutes to complete. The aircraft used a total of 4,813 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed on runway 26L at EGKK London Gatwick Airport, achieving a score of 94.1%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 258.0° at an altitude of 384.5 meters above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a threshold speed of 124 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown speed of 121 knots was slightly faster than ideal. The touchdown distance of 218 meters was also deemed good. Unfortunately, the touchdown rate was very hard, registering at -2.6 meters per second.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 6.7 meters, which may have contributed to the hard touchdown rate. The local weather conditions at the time of landing included a temperature of 11°C, with a wind speed of 18 knots from 310°. This resulted in a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 11 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,163 meters was 47% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 8.6 meters. Overall, the landing was considered successful, but there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown speed and rate, as well as alignment during rollout.
