Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.

Plan view — the first 1,841 m of the 2,490 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,469 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departure from Groningen Airport Eelde, EHGG, commenced with a roll down runway 05, utilizing 30% of the available 2,493-meter runway. The Grumman AA-5A Cheetah accelerated to liftoff speed of 69 knots, clearing the ground in a relatively short distance of 736 meters. Under local conditions of 20°C temperature and a 3-knot tailwind from 227°, the aircraft transitioned smoothly into the climb phase.
Following a brief enroute level cruise at 1 minute and 1 nautical mile overhead Yde, the aircraft began its descent towards EHGG. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, aligning with heading 229.0° and descending to an altitude of 173 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 23 was executed with a threshold speed of 96 knots, resulting in a touchdown point that utilized more than 50% of the available runway. The touchdown speed of 51 knots and a descent rate of -22 feet per minute were within acceptable parameters. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.6 meters from the centerline.
The post-landing rollout was characterized by good alignment, and the aircraft utilized 70% of the available runway, covering a total distance of 1,738 meters. The flight, which covered a total distance of 4 nautical miles, utilized a fuel quantity of -2 kilograms, indicating a slight fuel gain during the flight. The overall performance of the Grumman AA-5A Cheetah during this flight was satisfactory, with the aircraft demonstrating its capabilities in a variety of conditions.
The final approach to runway 23 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde was initiated from the north east, heading 229.0° at 0 nm and 173 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a threshold height of 71 ft agl, which was well above the target. The aircraft was configured for landing with a threshold speed of 96 kt.
As the aircraft touched down, it was noted that the touchdown point was very long, utilizing more than 50% of the available runway. The touchdown speed was 51 kt, and the touchdown rate was perfect at -22 fpm, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.6 m from the centreline. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 20 °C and a gentle headwind of 3 kt at 227°.
The total landing distance was 1,738 m, accounting for 70% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, demonstrating a high level of control and precision during the post-landing phase. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 85.2%.
