Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,616 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,616 m of the 3,194 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 789 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 23R at Manchester Airport (EGCC). The takeoff distance was 1,920 meters, which accounted for 79% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 182 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 17°C temperature and a wind speed of 6 knots at 110°. The crosswind was 5 knots, while the tailwind was 3 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile north of Mobberley, Cheshire East, England, where the aircraft climbed from 1,200 feet above sea level to 4,806 feet above sea level, an increase of 3,606 feet in 2 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise then began 1 mile south of High Legh, Cheshire East, England, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles. However, the aircraft soon began another climb 1 mile west of Acton Bridge, Cheshire West and Chester, England, where it ascended from 4,961 feet above sea level to 34,556 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,595 feet in 20 minutes, covering 104 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 3 miles south west of Magor, Monmouthshire, Wales, and lasted for 202 minutes, covering 1,457 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent 57 miles north of Tegueste, Canary Islands, Spain, where it descended from 36,307 feet above sea level to 12,409 feet above sea level, a decrease of 23,898 feet in 27 minutes, covering 80 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 13 miles south of San Sebastian de la Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles. However, the aircraft soon began its final descent 12 miles south west of Playa de las Americas, Canary Islands, Spain, where it descended from 4,206 feet above sea level to 1,922 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,284 feet in 5 minutes, covering 15 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07 at Tenerife Sur Airport (GCTS) was from the south west, heading 70.0° at 3 nautical miles and 1,694 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 07 was successful, with the aircraft touching down 379 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 164 knots, which was slightly fast, while the touchdown rate was smooth at -141 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 21°C temperature and a wind speed of 22 knots at 80°. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 21 knots. The total landing distance was 1,541 meters, which accounted for 48% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,681 nautical miles, which was achieved in 267 minutes, using 9,195 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at GCTS Tenerife Sur Airport, achieving an overall score of 88.5%. The final approach to runway 07 was conducted from the southwest, heading 70.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,694 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 379 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly outside the optimal landing area. The touchdown speed of 164 knots was higher than the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have applied the brakes slightly too late or not aggressively enough to slow down the aircraft. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -141 feet per minute (fpm), which suggests that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and a moderate headwind of 21 knots at 80°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, which made the landing process relatively straightforward. The runway length of 3,194 meters was sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance of 1,541 meters, which is approximately 48% of the runway.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained the aircraft's centerline during the landing. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot applied the brakes smoothly and maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, but there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and touchdown point.
