MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed and off the runway's 3° glideslope.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed and off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,068 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 350 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 1.83 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied from the parking area to runway 33L at OKKK Kuwait International, a movement that lasted 28 minutes and covered 8 nm.
Take-off was performed on runway 33L with a ground roll of 1,667 m, representing 49 % of the runway length. Liftoff was achieved at 173 kt. Ambient temperature was 46 °C with a wind from 350° at 12 kt, including a 3 kt cross-wind component and a 12 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced approximately 1 mile north-west of OKKK, climbing from 1,163 ft asl to 36,140 ft asl - an altitude gain of 34,977 ft - in 16 minutes while covering 102 nm.
The first cruise segment began 36 miles south-west of OKAJ Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base and continued for 82 minutes, during which 591 nm were flown.
Descent started 26 miles south-west of Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, descending from 36,097 ft asl to 3,587 ft asl - a loss of 32,511 ft - in 18 minutes and covering 103 nm.
A second cruise phase was initiated 21 miles south of Sharm el-Sheikh, lasting 20 minutes and encompassing 68 nm.
Final approach to runway 04R at HESH Sharm El Sheikh International Airport was conducted from the south-west on a heading of 41.0° at 3 nm and 1,772 ft agl.
Landing on runway 04R, which is 3,068 m long, recorded a threshold speed of 132 kt, a touchdown distance of 215 m and a touchdown speed of 130 kt. The aircraft touched down with a heavy rate of minus 779 fpm and was laterally displaced 23.9 m from the centreline. Local weather reported a temperature of 34 °C, wind 7 kt from 0°, a 4 kt cross-wind and a 5 kt head-wind. Total landing distance was 983 m, equal to 32 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was off by 41.6 m from the centreline.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 6 minutes, traveling 1 nm.
In total the flight covered 879 nm, required 153 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 0 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A321 entered the final approach to runway 04R at HESH Sharm El Sheikh International Airport from the south-west on a heading of 41.0 ° at 3 nm and 1,772 ft agl. The approach was assessed as unstable at the 1,000 ft gate, with sink rate too high and the aircraft off the glideslope.
At threshold the aircraft displayed a good threshold height but the threshold speed was well above target at 132 kt. The flare commenced with the aircraft still above the desired speed envelope.
Touchdown occurred 215 m down the runway, with a touchdown speed of 130 kt that was fast and a very heavy touchdown rate of minus 779 fpm. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 23.9 m from the centreline. Total landing distance measured 983 m, representing 32 % of the 3,068 m runway.
Rollout alignment was significantly misaligned by 41.6 m from the centreline. Local weather was 34 °C with wind 7 kt from 0 °, including a 4 kt crosswind component and a 5 kt headwind component.
Refine control of sink rate and glide-path tracking to reduce the heavy touchdown and improve centreline alignment through flare and rollout, which will also help bring speed closer to target. Maintaining a more precise approach path will lessen the misalignment observed on touchdown and during rollout.
