Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 858 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 858 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 272 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a short taxiing period from the parking to the runway, taking approximately 1 minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an ATR 72, then departed from runway 23 at ENKR Kirkenes Airport, Høybuktmoen, with a takeoff distance of 628 meters, which accounted for 39% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 114 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of -4°C, with a wind speed of 12 knots blowing from 180°. This resulted in a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The aircraft successfully took off and began its enroute climb, which started overhead ENKR Kirkenes Airport, Høybuktmoen. The climb phase involved increasing the aircraft's altitude from 1,221 feet above sea level to 11,383 feet, a total increase of 10,162 feet, over a distance of 20 nautical miles, and took approximately 7 minutes to complete.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 12 miles southwest of Vadso, Troms og Finnmark, Norway. This phase lasted for 9 minutes and covered a distance of 38 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent, which began 15 miles north of ENTA Masjok Tana bru, Troms og Finnmark, Norway. The descent phase involved decreasing the aircraft's altitude from 11,377 feet to 1,384 feet, a total decrease of 9,993 feet, over a distance of 34 nautical miles, and took approximately 12 minutes to complete.
The final approach to runway 17 at ENMH Mehamn Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 181.0°, at an altitude of 1,333 feet above ground level, and 2 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was executed on runway 17, which had a length of 858 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed at 116 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 273 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 110 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -280 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.6 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -5°C, with a wind speed of 14 knots blowing from 190°. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 14 knots. The total landing distance was 441 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
In summary, the flight covered a total distance of 96 nautical miles, took approximately 34 minutes to complete, and used 366 kilograms of fuel.
The ATR 72 aircraft successfully landed at ENMH Mehamn Airport, achieving a score of 97.9%. The final approach to runway 17 was initiated from the north, with a heading of 181.0° at 2 nautical miles and 1,333 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating a stable and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 115 kn, registering at 116 kn. However, the touchdown distance of 273 meters was deemed good, suggesting a well-executed landing. The touchdown speed of 110 kn was a little fast, but not excessively so. The touchdown rate of -280 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, indicating a moderate rate of descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.6 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -5°C and a wind speed of 14 kn from 190°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 kn, while the headwind component was 14 kn, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment.
The total landing distance of 441 meters was 51% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score despite a few minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters.
