MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,463 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,119 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight took off from PADQ Kodiak Airport, situated on Kodiak, Alaska, United States. After taxiing 2 nm in 6 minutes, the aircraft rolled down runway 19, covering 53% of its length, and successfully took off. The takeoff speed was achieved at 141 kt, with local weather conditions being moderate. The temperature was 58°F, and the wind was 11 kt, blowing from the western direction.
As the aircraft began its enroute climb, it rose from an altitude of 1,036 ft to 36,694 ft, an increase of 35,658 ft in just 15 minutes, while covering 96 nm. This portion of the flight started 1 mile south of PADQ Kodiak Airport and ended 34 miles west of PAKY Karluk Airport.
Next, the aircraft transitioned into level cruise for 3 minutes, during which it covered a distance of 29 nm. Following this brief cruise, the aircraft initiated its enroute descent from an altitude of 36,693 ft to 482 ft. This descent took 17 minutes and covered 74 nm, starting 16 miles south east of AA05 Shelby Strip and ending at the destination.
Upon approaching runway 24 at PAPH Port Heiden Airport, the aircraft maintained a heading of 261.0° at an altitude of 386 ft agl and 1 nm from the runway. During the landing, the threshold height was significantly above target, while the threshold speed was slightly below standard at 113 kt. The touchdown point was 687 ft beyond the designated touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 99 kt, indicating a smooth touchdown.
However, the aircraft's landing performance was compromised by a very hard touchdown rate of -595 fpm and a pronounced deviation from the centreline by 139 ft during touchdown. In addition, the runway touchdown position was found to be excessively misaligned by 139 ft from the centreline. Furthermore, the runway rollout alignment was found to be significantly misaligned by 146 ft from the centreline.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied back to the parking area in less than 1 minute and under 1 nm distance. The entire flight covered a distance of 204 nm, took 48 minutes to complete, and utilized 1,441 lbs of fuel.
The aircraft, designated as C750, landed at Port Heiden Airport, with a final approach and landing on runway 24 coming from the east. The aircraft's final approach altitude was 386 feet above ground level (agl), and it maintained a heading of 261.0 degrees at a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway.
Upon completing the final approach, the aircraft touched down 687 feet beyond the touchdown zone on a runway that is 7,463 feet long. The touchdown speed was recorded at 99 knots, which is within the designated range, indicating a good control of the aircraft's descent. However, the touchdown rate was very hard at -595 feet per minute (fpm), which suggests some difficulties in smoothing the landing.
Another issue that needs highlighting is the significant misalignment of the runway touchdown position, as the aircraft landed 139 feet off the runway's centerline. This can be a major obstacle for the aircraft's safe landing, as it may cause complications during the rollout phase.
Local weather conditions were moderate during the landing, with a temperature of 52 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 23 knots coming from 270 degrees. The crosswind was measured at 8 knots, and the headwind was 21 knots. These conditions can affect an aircraft's stability and control during landing.
The total landing distance was 3,556 feet, equivalent to 48% of the runway's length. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was also significantly off-centerline by 146 feet from the centerline, indicating further difficulties in controlling the aircraft's roll and directional stability during the landing phase.
Given the landing parameters and issues encountered, the performance of the aircraft, C750, received a score of 61.8%. This score indicates room for improvement in terms of precision and efficiency during landing.
