Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,836 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 253 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 1.70 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
Overall, the aircraft landing score of 78.1% shows that there were some areas of improvement, but also some strong performance during different phases of the landing process.
During the Approach Phase, it is commendable that the glideslope alignment was excellent. This indicates that the pilot was able to maintain the correct vertical position relative to the runway, which is crucial for a safe landing. Additionally, having the speed slightly below target shows good control and awareness of the aircraft's descent.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it is impressive that the threshold height was good and that the landing flare was executed perfectly. These are key elements for a smooth and safe touchdown. However, the poor bank angle stability during landing is an area that can be improved upon. Maintaining a stable bank angle is essential for a stable and controlled descent.
In the Touchdown Phase, the heavy touchdown rate is a concern as it can put unnecessary stress on the landing gear and potentially lead to damage. On the positive side, having the speed on target and touchdown distance inside the touchdown zone shows good precision and awareness of the aircraft's position relative to the runway. The runway touchdown position being 36.0 m from the centreline is within an acceptable range, but can also be further improved for more precise landings.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, having the runway alignment 39.5 m from the centreline is slightly off target. It is important to ensure that the aircraft remains aligned with the runway centerline throughout the rollout phase for a smooth exit from the runway.
In conclusion, while there were areas for improvement in terms of bank angle stability, touchdown rate, and runway alignment, there were also several strengths in the landing process such as glideslope alignment, landing flare, and precision in touchdown distance. With continued practice and focus on these key areas, the overall landing score can be further improved for future flights. Keep up the good work and continue striving for excellence in each phase of the landing process!
