Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,690 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,690 m of the 2,132 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 668 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 31 at LIBR Brindisi Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,170 meters, which is 40% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 152 knots, and the local weather conditions were a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 330°.
As the aircraft climbed, it started enroute climb 2 miles northwest of Materdomini, Italy, at an altitude of 1,017 feet above sea level. The climb continued to an altitude of 32,563 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,546 feet in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 80 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 5 miles northeast of Barletta, Italy, and lasted for 32 minutes, covering a distance of 226 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started overhead Borgo Pace, Italy, and the aircraft descended from 32,798 feet above sea level to 22,258 feet above sea level, a decrease of 10,540 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 29 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 1 mile north of Premilcuore, Italy, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles. Another enroute descent started 2 miles east of Casola Valsenio, Italy, and the aircraft descended from 21,499 feet above sea level to 2,397 feet above sea level, a decrease of 19,101 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 37 nautical miles.
The final enroute level cruise started 1 mile west of Riolo, Italy, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 12 at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport from the west, heading 117.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,274 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 12 at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport was successful, with a touchdown point 251 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 135 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was fair at -249 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions were a temperature of 9°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at 340°.
The total landing distance was 1,609 meters, which is 75% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.7 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 399 nautical miles, taking 82 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,041 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, with a final approach score of 91.0%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the west, heading 117.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing was executed on runway 12, which has a length of 2,132 meters. The threshold height at 63 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired when reaching the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was good at 139 knots, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct speed when reaching the threshold.
The touchdown point was 251 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively long distance. The touchdown speed was good at 135 knots, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct speed when touching down on the runway. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -249 feet per minute (fpm), which is slightly higher than the desired rate.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at touchdown. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 3 knots from 340°. The crosswind and tailwind components were both 2 knots, which is relatively minimal.
The total landing distance was 1,609 meters, which is 75% of the runway length. This indicates that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance after touchdown. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.7 meters from the centerline, which may indicate some deviation from the desired path during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the desired performance. The aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance, and the touchdown speed and alignment were good. However, the touchdown rate and rollout alignment could be improved in future landings.
