Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,805 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 218 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 13 at SBFZ Pinto Martins International Airport in Fortaleza, Brazil. The takeoff distance was 1,583 meters, which was 63% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 160 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 31°C, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 69°.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile east of the airport. The climb took 20 minutes and covered a distance of 115 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,067 feet above sea level to 37,342 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,275 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 12 miles northwest of Santana do Acarau, Brazil, and lasted for 46 minutes, covering a distance of 354 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 12 miles west of Maracacume, Brazil, and took 27 minutes to complete, during which the aircraft descended from 37,410 feet above sea level to 1,372 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,038 feet. The descent covered a distance of 147 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 06 at SBBE Val de Cans/Júlio Cezar Ribeiro International Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 46.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,319 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 06 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 219 meters, which was 41% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 143 knots, which was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was very heavy at -733 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 25°C, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 40°.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 7 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 623 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 110 minutes. The aircraft used 4,391 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at SBBE Val de Cans/Júlio Cezar Ribeiro International Airport, achieving a score of 92.0%. The final approach to runway 06 was initiated from the southwest, with a heading of 46.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,319 feet above ground level.
The aircraft demonstrated good control during the approach, with a threshold height that met the required standards. The threshold speed was also satisfactory at 144 knots, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 143 knots was slightly above the optimal range, which may have contributed to a heavier-than-desired touchdown rate.
The touchdown rate of -733 feet per minute was significantly higher than the desired rate, indicating a potentially hard landing. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C and a moderate headwind of 7 knots at 40°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, which further contributed to a smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,157 meters was within the acceptable range, accounting for 41% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft maintained its alignment with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, while there were some minor deviations from the optimal landing parameters, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency during the landing at SBBE Val de Cans/Júlio Cezar Ribeiro International Airport, earning a score of 92.0%.
