MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 9,977 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 669 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by a C750 aircraft taking off from runway 31 at PADU Tom Madsen (Dutch Harbor) Airport. Taxiing from the parking to the runway took a relatively short time of 4 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll was completed successfully, using 2,384 feet of runway, or 61% of the available space. The takeoff speed of 147 knots ensured a smooth transition to liftoff.
After departing from PADU, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started approximately 1 mile northwest of the airport and reached an altitude of 41,989 feet above sea level. This impressive ascent of 41,489 feet was achieved in just 17 minutes, while covering a distance of 91 nautical miles. Throughout this phase, the aircraft encountered a local temperature of 53°F, as well as winds of 21 knots at a 300° angle, resulting in a 6-knot crosswind component and a 20-knot headwind.
As the aircraft reached cruising altitude, it leveled off and entered the enroute level cruise phase, lasting 55 minutes and covering a distance of 446 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its first descent, starting from a latitude of 53.2066749 and a longitude of 178.3820829. This descent took place from 42,543 feet above sea level down to 32,610 feet, a drop of 9,932 feet achieved in just 5 minutes while covering a distance of 33 nautical miles.
Following this initial descent, the aircraft began another level cruise phase from a latitude of 53.0808673 and a longitude of 177.4745683, lasting only 2 minutes while covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. Another descent then ensued, dropping from 32,619 feet above sea level down to 2,760 feet, a total decrease of 29,859 feet, achieved in 18 minutes while covering 99 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, this time starting 15 miles east of PASY Eareckson Air Station Shemya, lasting 6 minutes and covering 11 nautical miles.
The final approach was completed in preparation for landing on runway 28 at PASY Eareckson Air Station. The aircraft touched down on the runway, which measured 9,977 feet long, with a touchdown speed of 128 knots, significantly faster than the target speed. The touchdown distance of 641 feet was within acceptable limits, but the touchdown rate was unusually heavy at -799 feet per minute. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 47 feet from the centreline.
Taxiing to the parking area from the runway took just 2 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total distance covered during the flight was 695 nautical miles, achieved in a total flight time of 110 minutes, at a fuel usage of 3,708 pounds.
Aircraft C750 successfully landed at PASY Eareckson Air Station, but its performance could be improved in several areas. The pilot followed the correct procedure for the final approach, heading in from the east at 279.0° and maintaining a safe altitude of 1,702 feet above ground level (agl) at a distance of 4 nautical miles from the threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's approach was initially promising, with a good threshold height and a close match to the target speed of 130 knots. However, the pilot had some difficulty maintaining control during the landing, resulting in a fast touchdown speed of 128 knots and a heavy touchdown rate of -799 feet per minute (fpm). This suggests that the pilot may have encountered difficulties maintaining a stable approach or had some trouble with the plane's brakes.
From a tactical perspective, the pilot successfully landed the aircraft on the correct runway, 28 at PASY Eareckson, which has a length of 9,977 feet. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 47 feet from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was similarly off-kilter, deviating by 59 feet.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively mild, with a temperature of 50°F and moderate winds blowing at 8 knots from the west-southwest and a 2-knot headwind. These conditions should not have significantly impacted the plane's performance. In terms of landing distance, the total distance covered by the aircraft was 2,619 feet, which represents 26% of the available runway length. This is generally acceptable, but the high touchdown speed and heavy impact rate suggest that there may be room for improvement.
