Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,825 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,825 ft of the 12,777 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,703 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Reggio Calabria Airport, taking approximately 3 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 11, with the aircraft taking off after covering 38% of the runway's length, which was 2,194 feet. The liftoff speed was 102 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 62°F temperature and a wind of 7 knots at 50°. The crosswind was 6 knots, while the headwind was 3 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Reggio Calabria Airport, with the aircraft ascending from 914 feet above sea level to 18,009 feet, an increase of 17,096 feet in 12 minutes, covering 37 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 14 miles southeast of Stromboli, Italy, and lasted for 45 minutes, covering 202 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 1 mile southwest of Roccagorga, Italy, descending from 17,898 feet to 6,119 feet in 14 minutes, covering 62 nautical miles. The descent was followed by a brief enroute level cruise overhead Carbognano, Italy, lasting 5 minutes and covering 8 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final descent 1 mile southwest of Capranica, Italy, descending from 5,936 feet to 3,117 feet in 3 minutes, covering 9 nautical miles. Another brief enroute level cruise took place 1 mile south of Bracciano, Italy, lasting 2 minutes and covering 4 nautical miles. The final descent started 2 miles east of LIXU Campo di Volo Sangermano Valcanneto, Italy, with the aircraft descending from 2,856 feet to 1,296 feet in 3 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 16L at Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport took place from the north, with the aircraft heading 162.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,277 feet above ground level. The landing took place on the 12,777-foot runway, with the threshold height being good and the threshold speed being well above the target at 79 knots.
The touchdown point was 263 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with the touchdown speed being 64 knots and the touchdown rate being smooth at -102 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, despite the local weather conditions of 64°F temperature and a wind of 7 knots at 50°, with a crosswind of 6 knots and a tailwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 5,485 feet, which was 43% of the runway's length. However, the runway rollout alignment was excessively misaligned by 351 feet from the centreline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 4 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 336 nautical miles, taking 98 minutes, and the aircraft used 813 pounds of fuel.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed on runway 16L at LIRF Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, achieving an overall score of 87.7%. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 162.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,277 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 79 knots. However, the touchdown point was 263 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing path. The touchdown speed of 64 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -102 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 64°F and a wind speed of 7 knots at 50°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, and the tailwind component was 3 knots, which may have contributed to the slight deviation from the centerline during the rollout. The total landing distance of 5,485 feet was 43% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance.
However, the runway rollout alignment was excessively misaligned by 351 feet from the centerline, which may indicate a loss of directional control during the rollout phase. This deviation from the centerline could be attributed to the crosswind and tailwind components, as well as any potential pilot error or aircraft handling issues. Despite this, the overall landing performance of the Vision Jet was satisfactory, and the aircraft demonstrated a good ability to handle the given weather conditions.
