Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,462 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 957 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, then departed from runway 03 at Perth International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 7,676 feet, which was 68% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 166 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit and winds of 20 knots at 99 degrees. The crosswind was 20 knots, while the headwind was a mere 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead South Guildford, where the aircraft ascended from 1,051 feet above sea level to 36,210 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,159 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 100 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 25 miles north of Moora and lasted for 58 minutes, covering a distance of 470 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 19 miles southeast of Ken's Bore airport, where it descended from 36,461 feet above sea level to 6,267 feet above sea level, a decrease of 30,194 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 93 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 8 miles south of Karratha and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. However, this was short-lived, as the aircraft began its descent once again, starting 7 miles east of Karratha, where it descended from 5,691 feet above sea level to 3,132 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,560 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 5 miles northeast of Karratha and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. However, this was followed by another descent, starting 7 miles northeast of Karratha, where it descended from 3,139 feet above sea level to 1,322 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,817 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26 at Karratha Airport was made from the east, with a heading of 264.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,286 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 26, which had a length of 7,462 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 138 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 957 feet, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 136 knots. The touchdown rate was hard at -441 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions were a temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit and winds of 5 knots at 224 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 3,655 feet, which was 49% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 697 nautical miles, which was covered in 122 minutes, and the aircraft used 11,549 pounds of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at YPKA Karratha Airport, achieving a high score of 96.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 264.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,286 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 26, which has a length of 7,462 feet.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the pilots maintained a safe altitude before touching down on the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 137 kt, which is a minor deviation. The touchdown distance of 957 feet was within acceptable limits, demonstrating good control and precision during the landing.
Despite a slightly fast touchdown speed of 136 kt, the pilots managed to maintain a perfect runway touchdown alignment. This is a critical aspect of landing, as it ensures that the aircraft remains centered on the runway and reduces the risk of veering off course.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 86°F and a gentle wind of 5 kt from 224°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 kt, while the headwind component was 4 kt, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing.
The total landing distance of 3,655 feet was 49% of the runway length, indicating that the pilots managed to bring the aircraft to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was also reported as perfect, demonstrating good control and precision during the deceleration phase.
Overall, the landing was executed well, with the pilots demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases. The minor deviations in threshold speed and touchdown speed were not significant enough to impact the overall score, resulting in a high score of 96.9%.
