Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,545 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 968 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A321neo taxied from its parking position to runway 22 at EDDC Dresden Airport, a movement that required 5 minutes and covered 3 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 22 the aircraft accelerated over a take-off distance of 1,521 m, representing 60 % of the available runway, and lifted off at 143 kt. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 17 °C, wind from 288° at 5 kt, with a 4 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced one mile south-west of the airport, with the airplane climbing from 1,599 ft asl to 2,762 ft asl, an increase of 1,163 ft achieved in 1 minute while covering 2 nm.
Level cruise began one mile north-east of Albertstadt and was maintained for 2 minutes, during which the aircraft travelled 5 nm.
Descent started one mile south-west of Wachau, descending from 3,048 ft asl to 1,395 ft asl, a loss of 1,653 ft in 2 minutes and covering 4 nm.
The final approach to runway 22 was executed from the north-east, on a heading of 221.0° at 2 nm distance and 655 ft above ground level.
Landing was made on runway 22, whose length is 2,545 m. The threshold speed was recorded at 142 kt, above the target. Touchdown occurred 540 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 128 kt and a descent rate of minus 162 fpm; the touchdown point was offset 8.0 m from the centreline. Local weather at landing was a temperature of 18 °C, wind from 310° at 4 kt, with a 3 kt cross-wind and no head-wind component.
In total the flight covered 17 nm, required 8 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 393 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A321neo conducted the final approach to runway 22 at EDDC Dresden Airport from the north-east, tracking a heading of 221.0° at 2 nm and 655 ft agl. Local weather was 18 °C with a wind of 4 kt from 310°, providing a 3 kt cross-wind component and no head-wind.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was well above target at 142 kt.
Touchdown occurred 540 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 128 kt that was a little fast; the vertical rate was good at minus 162 fpm and the touchdown point was misaligned by 8.0 m from the centreline.
The overall score of 92.9 % indicates a solid performance; reducing the threshold speed toward the target and aiming to land within the designated touchdown zone will tighten the remaining variances. Aligning more closely with the centreline on touchdown will also bring the result nearer to the optimum.
