MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,284 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 593 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, an EasyJet FWB, then departed from runway 26L at Vancouver International Airport (CYVR). The takeoff distance was 895 meters, which accounted for 27% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 156 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees. There was no crosswind, but a headwind of 1 knot was present. The aircraft began its enroute climb overhead CYVR, ascending from an altitude of 1,035 feet above sea level to 3,565 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,530 feet in just 3 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 8 nautical miles.
As the aircraft continued on its journey, it began its enroute descent 8 miles west of CYVR. The descent took place from an altitude of 3,667 feet above sea level to 2,040 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,626 feet in 2 minutes. This descent also covered a distance of 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which started 12 miles north of Ganges, British Columbia, and lasted for 10 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 16 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26L at CYVR was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 279.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,730 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. However, the aircraft was forced to execute a go-around at an altitude of 2,288 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 26L, which had a length of 3,284 meters. The threshold height at 60 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, while the threshold speed was a little below the target at 116 knots.
The touchdown point was 170 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 114 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was fair at -251 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 5.9 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees. There was no crosswind, but a headwind of 1 knot was present.
The total landing distance was 1,408 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 8.8 meters. The aircraft then taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 52 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 33 minutes. The aircraft used 1,203 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, FWB EasyJet, successfully landed on runway 26L at Vancouver International Airport (CYVR) with a score of 79.0%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 279.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,730 feet above ground level (agl).
The initial landing attempt resulted in a threshold height that was excessively above the target at 109 feet agl, and a threshold speed that was well above the target at 153 knots. However, the second landing attempt showed improvement, with a threshold height of 60 feet agl, which was slightly above the target, and a threshold speed of 116 knots, which was a little below the target.
The touchdown point was located 170 meters beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 114 knots was considered good, but the touchdown rate of -251 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.9 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C, a wind speed of 1 knot at 270°, and a crosswind of 0 knots. The headwind was 1 knot, which may have contributed to the slightly above-target threshold height.
The total landing distance was 1,408 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 8.8 meters from the centerline. Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the aircraft was able to safely touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance.
