MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,710 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 414 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Chicago O'Hare International Airport, the Airbus A350-900 began its journey on runway 27L, taking off with a distance of 1,449 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 156 knots, overcoming a crosswind of 16 knots and a headwind of 19 knots. The local temperature was 11 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 24 knots from a direction of 310 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed out of the Chicago area, it reached an altitude of 38,719 feet above sea level, an increase of 37,017 feet in just 13 minutes, covering a distance of 209 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase began approximately 2 miles northwest of Livonia, Michigan, and lasted for 34 minutes, during which the aircraft covered 1,332 nautical miles. The crew then initiated a series of climbs and level cruises, adjusting the aircraft's altitude and heading to optimize fuel efficiency and navigate through various weather conditions. The final descent phase began approximately 1 mile west of Quettehou, France, where the aircraft descended from 40,999 feet to 1,678 feet above sea level in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 162 nautical miles.
The Airbus A350-900 touched down on runway 09L at Charles de Gaulle International Airport, with a touchdown distance of 426 meters, which was within the acceptable range. The aircraft's touchdown speed was slightly higher than the recommended threshold speed, but the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The total landing distance was 1,378 meters, accounting for 51% of the runway. Following a smooth taxiing process, the aircraft arrived at the parking area, having covered a total distance of 3,745 nautical miles and consuming 40,171 kilograms of fuel during the 134-minute flight.
The approach to runway 09L at LFPG Charles de Gaulle International Airport was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a steady heading of 85.0° at 4 nm and 1,323 ft above ground level. The approach quality was excellent, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 133 kt, well within the acceptable range. The aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 131 kt, which was a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -278 fpm was fair, indicating a controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft maintained perfect runway touchdown alignment, with the centreline of the aircraft aligned with the centreline of the runway. The touchdown distance of 426 m was good, indicating a smooth and controlled touchdown. The total landing distance of 1,378 m, which accounted for 51% of the runway length, was also within acceptable limits. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 11 °C and a wind of 7 kt at 70°, contributed to a relatively straightforward landing.
The rollout phase was executed flawlessly, with the aircraft maintaining perfect runway rollout alignment. The overall performance of the landing was impressive, with a score of 99.4%. The slight deviation in touchdown speed was the only notable deviation from an otherwise excellent landing. Overall, the landing was a testament to the crew's skill and the aircraft's capabilities.
