Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,332 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 117 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Douglas DC-3 began with a taxi from the parking area to the runway at LFBZ Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne Airport, which took 11 minutes and covered 2 nm. The departure roll was from runway 27, with a takeoff distance of 514 m, representing 25% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 71 kn, with local weather conditions including a temperature of 16 °C, wind at 13 kn coming from 260 °, a crosswind of 2 kn, and a headwind of 13 kn.
The enroute climb started overhead Biarritz, climbing from 707 ft asl to 6,774 ft asl, an increase of 6,067 ft in 10 minutes and covering 22 nm. The enroute level cruise began 1 mile south-west of Labastide-Villefranche, lasting 7 minutes and covering 19 nm. The enroute descent started overhead Os-Marsillon, descending from 6,921 ft asl to 4,995 ft asl, a decrease of 1,926 ft in 4 minutes and covering 12 nm.
Another enroute level cruise began overhead Saint-Castin and lasted 2 minutes, covering 7 nm. The subsequent descent started 2 miles east of Saint-Laurent-Bretagne, descending from 4,661 ft asl to 2,897 ft asl, a decrease of 1,764 ft in 2 minutes and covering 7 nm. Another level cruise started 1 mile south-west of Vic-en-Bigorre and lasted 6 minutes, covering 7 nm.
The landing took place on runway 20 at LFBT Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Airport, with a runway length of 2,332 m. The height at the threshold was 20 ft agl, and the speed at the threshold was 70 kn. The touchdown occurred 114 m from the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 67 kn and a VSI of -269 ft/m. Local weather conditions at the time included a temperature of 14 °C, wind at 8 kn coming from 250 °, a crosswind of 6 kn, and a headwind of 5 kn. The total landing distance was 608 m, representing 26% of the runway.
Finally, taxiing from the runway to the parking area took 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 83 nm, with a total flight time of 43 minutes and fuel consumption of 157 kg.
Overall, the aircraft landing score of 96.1% indicates a very high level of proficiency and precision during the landing process. The approach phase stood out for its excellent glideslope alignment, which is crucial for a smooth and controlled descent towards the runway. The slight deviation in speed below the target can be easily rectified through minor adjustments in future landings.
Moving on to the landing phase, it is evident that the pilot had a good threshold height and executed an excellent landing flare. The touchdown phase, although the touchdown rate was firm, the speed was right on target. Additionally, the touchdown distance falling inside the touchdown zone demonstrates good judgment and accuracy in touchdown positioning. The runway touchdown position being 6.4 m from the centerline indicates precision in alignment during this critical phase.
In the rollout phase, the runway alignment being 7.8 m from the centerline also showcases skillful maneuvering and control during the final stages of the landing process. The pilot's ability to maintain alignment and control throughout the landing, from approach to rollout, is commendable and contributes to the high landing score achieved.
Overall, this landing performance reflects a high level of proficiency and competence on the part of the pilot. By continuing to focus on speed control, alignment, and touchdown precision, even greater scores can be achieved in future landings. Encouraging continued attention to detail and practice will only serve to further enhance the already impressive landing capabilities demonstrated in this particular landing.
