MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Reduce power earlier on final to bleed speed back to 140 kt before crossing the threshold.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 152 kt, 12 kt above the 140 kt target.
Watch for: Airspeed, targeting 140 kt at the threshold.
See Arrival Landing
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,813 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,034 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing Myrtle Beach International Airport, the Boeing 737-800 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. As the aircraft reached the end of runway 18, it initiated its departure roll, accelerating down the 7,028-foot-long runway. The takeoff distance of 5,393 feet represented 57% of the available runway length, and the aircraft lifted off at a speed of 153 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 86°F, with a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 170°, resulting in a 14-knot headwind and a negligible crosswind.
As the aircraft climbed away from Myrtle Beach, it began its enroute climb, which started approximately 1 mile south of the airport. The climb phase saw the aircraft ascend from an initial altitude of 1,061 feet above sea level to a cruising altitude of 36,208 feet, an increase of 35,147 feet in just 21 minutes. The climb covered a distance of 147 nautical miles, and the aircraft leveled off at an altitude of 36,208 feet. The enroute level cruise phase that followed lasted for 25 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 202 nautical miles, flying over Wilson, North Carolina. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started over Galesville, Maryland, and saw the aircraft descend from 36,088 feet to 2,117 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 145 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04R at Newark Liberty International Airport was initiated from the southwest, with the aircraft flying at a heading of 26.0° at an altitude of 1,242 feet above ground level. The aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 148 knots, with a touchdown distance of 1,039 feet. The total landing distance of 4,269 feet represented 61% of the available runway length, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. Following a taxiing period of 5 minutes, the aircraft arrived at the parking area, having completed a total flight distance of 513 nautical miles and consuming 8,422 pounds of fuel in the process.
The Boeing 737-800 touched down on runway 04R at KEWR Newark Liberty International Airport with a score of 98.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south west, heading 26.0° at 4 nm and 1,242 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height allowing for a smooth transition to the runway. However, the threshold speed was above the target, reaching 152 kt, which may have contributed to a slightly longer touchdown distance.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft exhibited a fast touchdown speed of 148 kt, resulting in a touchdown rate of -226 fpm, which was considered fair. The touchdown distance of 1,039 ft was within acceptable limits. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 57°F and a headwind of 11 kt, contributed to a relatively smooth landing. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 kt.
The aircraft's rollout was characterized by very good alignment, with the aircraft remaining centered on the runway. The total landing distance of 4,269 ft was 61% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing. Overall, the landing was considered satisfactory, with the aircraft performing well in the given weather conditions.
