MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,491 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 423 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 17R at LTFM İstanbul Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,214 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 171 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 26 °C and a wind speed of 15 knots at 220°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was 11 knots. With these conditions in mind, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of LTFM İstanbul Airport Arnavutköy. The climb took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 94 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 1,354 feet above sea level to 33,454 feet above sea level, a total increase of 32,101 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile northeast of Sarafovo, Bulgaria. This phase lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 51 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 2 miles west of Shumen, Bulgaria. The descent took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 75 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from 33,363 feet above sea level to 3,001 feet above sea level, a total decrease of 30,362 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile north of Ileana, Romania. This phase lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 19 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 26L at LROP Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 264.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,146 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 26L was successful, with the touchdown distance being good at 425 meters. However, the touchdown speed was fast at 148 knots, and the touchdown rate was heavy at -656 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16 °C and a wind speed of 18 knots at 260°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 18 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,117 meters, which accounted for 32% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 251 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 69 minutes. The aircraft used 2,931 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 26L at LROP Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport, achieving a score of 89.0%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 264.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,146 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down at a distance of 425 meters, which was considered good. However, the touchdown speed of 148 knots was slightly faster than the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown. The touchdown rate of -656 feet per minute (fpm) was also heavier than expected, suggesting that the aircraft may have been touching down with a bit too much energy.
Despite these minor issues, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had successfully aligned the aircraft with the runway centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 18 knots from 260°. This resulted in a headwind component of 18 knots, which was beneficial for the landing, and a crosswind component of only 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 1,117 meters was 32% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. This suggests that the pilot had successfully managed the aircraft's descent and touchdown, and that the aircraft was well under control throughout the landing process. Finally, the runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot had successfully controlled the aircraft's rotation and deceleration during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with only minor issues related to touchdown speed and rate.
