Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,117 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,117 ft of the 8,263 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,281 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 22 at KHOU William P Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas. The takeoff distance was 718 feet, which accounted for 9% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 160 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 85 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 4 knots at 160 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it began its enroute climb from an initial altitude of 1,047 feet above sea level to 37,000 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,954 feet. This climb phase took 23 minutes and covered a distance of 158 nautical miles. The enroute climb started overhead KHOU William P Hobby Airport, and the aircraft continued to climb until it reached its cruising altitude.
Once the aircraft reached its cruising altitude, it entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 135 minutes and covered a distance of 1,078 nautical miles. The cruise phase began at a latitude of 27.7138437 and a longitude of -93.2328081. During this phase, the aircraft maintained a steady altitude and speed, allowing it to cover a significant distance without any significant changes in altitude or airspeed.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent from a cruising altitude of 36,912 feet above sea level to 4,252 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,660 feet. This descent phase took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 114 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 7 miles south east of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
The final approach to runway 07 at MROC Juan Santamaría International Airport was made from the south west, with a heading of 69.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,251 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 07, which had a length of 8,263 feet. The threshold height at 63 feet above ground level was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 138 knots.
The touchdown point was 918 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was perfect at -1 foot per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 2 knots at 70 degrees.
The total landing distance was 4,854 feet, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,357 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 197 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 17,552 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at MROC Juan Santamaría International Airport, achieving a high score of 94.8%. The final approach to runway 07 was conducted from the southwest, with a heading of 69.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,251 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 124 knots, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown point was located 918 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, but this was still considered a good performance given the aircraft's speed and altitude at the time of touchdown. The touchdown rate was also perfect, with a rate of -1 foot per minute (fpm), indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 70°F and a gentle headwind of 2 knots from a direction of 70°. There was no crosswind, which made the landing even more manageable. The runway length of 8,263 feet was more than sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance, which was 4,854 feet, or 59% of the runway length.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the time of touchdown. Similarly, the runway rollout alignment was also perfect, suggesting that the aircraft maintained its alignment with the runway centerline during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was a successful one, with the aircraft performing well in terms of speed, altitude, and alignment.
