Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,688 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,688 m of the 2,999 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 570 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 35R at LTFM İstanbul Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,743 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 164 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 12 knots at a direction of 70°. The crosswind component was 11 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started approximately 1 mile northwest of LTFM İstanbul Airport Arnavutköy. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,348 feet above sea level to 33,144 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,796 feet, in 17 minutes and covering a distance of 89 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase of the flight began 54 miles north of Karasu, Sakarya, Turkey, and lasted for 37 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 275 nautical miles.
The enroute descent phase of the flight started overhead LTFH Samsun-Çarşamba Airport Samsun, Turkey, and took the aircraft from an altitude of 33,219 feet above sea level to 930 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,289 feet, in 20 minutes and covering a distance of 66 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 10 at LTCB Ordu–Giresun Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 101.0° at an altitude of 906 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 10 at LTCB Ordu–Giresun Airport, which had a length of 2,999 meters, was successful, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 139 knots. The touchdown point was 158 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 129 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was also good at -172 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 13°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at a direction of 30°. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,611 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 439 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 85 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 3,322 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LTCB Ordu–Giresun Airport, achieving a high score of 98.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 101.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 906 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 10, which has a length of 2,999 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 139 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the landing phase. The touchdown point was 158 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation but still within the acceptable limits.
The touchdown speed of 129 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -172 feet per minute (fpm) was also within the acceptable range. This indicates that the aircraft touched down smoothly and with minimal impact, reducing the risk of damage to the aircraft and the runway. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and attention to detail during the landing phase.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 13°C and a wind speed of 2 knots at 30°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, and the headwind component was 1 knot, which had a negligible impact on the landing. The total landing distance of 1,611 meters was 54% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and ensured that it remained aligned with the runway centerline. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and skill, and the aircraft was brought to a safe stop within a short distance of the runway threshold.
