MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,138 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 283 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Bilbao Airport, taking 6 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. Departure roll took place on runway 12, with a takeoff distance of 1,244 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 157 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 10°C temperature and winds of 6 knots at 80 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 5 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Zamudio, Spain, where the aircraft ascended from 1,099 feet above sea level to 33,823 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,724 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 132 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 1 mile south of Saint-Pe-de-Bigorre, France, and lasted for 48 minutes, covering a distance of 354 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent 1 mile east of Vacheresse, France, and descended from 33,998 feet above sea level to 6,405 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,593 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 129 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed overhead Dogern, Germany, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent 1 mile east of Lauchringen, Germany, and descended from 6,007 feet above sea level to 2,829 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,178 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 14 at Zürich Airport took place from the northwest, with the aircraft heading 137.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,417 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 14 was successful, with a runway length of 3,138 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 139 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 283 meters, but the touchdown speed of 137 knots was a little fast. The touchdown rate was heavy at -685 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.3 meters from the centerline. Local weather conditions at the time of landing were 2°C temperature and winds of 1 knot at 284 degrees, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,120 meters, which accounted for 36% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. Taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 641 nautical miles, taking 105 minutes, and the aircraft used 4,420 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 14 at Zürich Airport (LSZH) with a score of 94.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north-west, heading 137.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,417 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was within the acceptable range at 139 knots. However, the touchdown speed of 137 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have contributed to a heavier touchdown rate. The touchdown rate of -685 feet per minute (fpm) was indeed heavy, indicating that the aircraft may have touched down with a bit too much force.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 4.3 meters, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach. Despite this, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 2°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 284°. The crosswind and tailwind components were both minimal at 1 knot, which made the landing conditions relatively straightforward.
The total landing distance of 1,120 meters was 36% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were a few areas for improvement, such as maintaining a slower touchdown speed and aligning the aircraft more precisely with the centreline.
