Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,447 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,447 m of the 3,798 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 454 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Tokyo Haneda International Airport, RJTT, the Boeing 777-300 began its journey with a taxiing period of 11 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles to reach the runway. Runway 34R was selected for departure, and the aircraft lifted off after a takeoff distance of 1,667 meters, utilizing 56% of the available runway. The liftoff speed was 184 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 17°C and a wind speed of 21 knots from 216°.
As the aircraft climbed out of Tokyo, it began its enroute climb, reaching an altitude of 29,802 feet above sea level in 21 minutes, covering 150 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a level cruise phase, which lasted for 233 minutes and covered 2,070 nautical miles. The aircraft then underwent several climb and level cruise phases, with notable increases in altitude and decreases in latitude and longitude. Notably, the climb from 28,790 feet to 30,494 feet in 2 minutes covered 14 nautical miles, and the level cruise phase that followed lasted for 177 minutes, covering 1,587 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, El Dorado International Airport, SKBO, it began its final descent, touching down on runway 32R after a total landing distance of 2,351 meters, which was 62% of the available runway. The touchdown speed was slightly above target at 145 knots, and the touchdown rate was heavy at -614 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.4 meters from the centerline. After a taxiing period of 4 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles, the aircraft came to a stop, having completed a total flight distance of 7,821 nautical miles, using 126,537 kilograms of fuel and taking a total of 930 minutes.
The Boeing 777-300 touched down on runway 32R at SKBO El Dorado International Airport, concluding a final approach from the south east at 2 nm and 708 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a heading of 306.0° and a slight deviation from the target threshold height of 57 ft above ground level. The aircraft's speed at threshold was also slightly above the target, reaching 147 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was a little fast at 145 knots, resulting in a heavy touchdown rate of -614 feet per minute. The touchdown distance was good, measuring 428 meters, but the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.4 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 14°C and a gentle wind of 3 knots at 60°, contributed to a relatively smooth landing. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the tailwind component was negligible at 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 2,351 meters, accounting for 62% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating good control and coordination from the flight crew. Overall, the landing performance scored 93.1%, reflecting a satisfactory outcome despite some minor deviations from the target parameters.
