Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,688 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 131 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a takeoff from runway 05 at EGHF Solent Airport, using a Kodiak 100 aircraft. The departure roll took 344 meters of the 5,300 meter runway, which equates to approximately 30% of its length. The liftoff speed was attained at 88 knots. The local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and very light winds with a speed of just 1 knot.
As the aircraft flew over EGHF Solent Airport, an enroute climb was initiated from 449 feet above sea level to 2,608 feet, which represents an increase of 2,160 feet over a period of just 2 minutes. This climb was accomplished while covering approximately 5 nautical miles. Following a brief level cruise to the south of Cosham, another enroute climb began over Emsworth, during which the aircraft rose from 3,026 feet to 3,994 feet, an increase of 968 feet. This climb was also completed within 2 minutes and covered 4 nautical miles.
The enroute descent from Emsworth, starting 1 mile north east of Bosham, involved a decrease of 2,420 feet from 4,043 feet to 1,623 feet over a 3-minute period and a distance of 5 nautical miles. The flight then proceeded south east of South Harting for a level cruise, which lasted 2 minutes and covered 3 nautical miles. However, a descent from 1,683 feet to 1,043 feet in a short distance of 1 mile to the east of South Harting was initiated. Next, another level cruise took place 1 mile north east of South Harting and lasted a total of 9 minutes while covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
Further descent initiated over Alton resulted in a decrease of 1,306 feet from 2,069 feet to 763 feet in a distance of 3 nautical miles. The final descent prepared the aircraft for a final approach to runway 27 at EGHL Lasham Airfield. The approach took place from the east, and the touchdown was made 142 feet above ground level. Upon landing on the 1,680 meter runway, the aircraft performed well, taking 128 meters to touch down with a speed of 55 knots. However, the touchdown was slightly off-center, landing 16.1 meters from the centerline, and this offset persisted even after the runway rollout alignment, resulting in a difference of 16.4 meters.
Taxiing to the airport's parking area took only 2 minutes and covered a very short distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The flight's total duration and distance were 25 minutes and 37 nautical miles, respectively. Furthermore, the aircraft experienced a significant fuel consumption of 68 kilograms during its entire journey.
The landing of the Kodiak 100 aircraft at EGHL Lasham Airfield, scored an 85.4% overall. The aircraft's final approach was directed towards runway 27 from the east, at a heading of 268.0° and 0 nm from the runway at 142 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully landed on the designated runway, with a length of 1,688 meters.
Throughout the landing, the threshold height was reported to be good. However, there was a slight issue with the threshold speed, as it was recorded to be a little below the target at 59 knots. Notably, the touchdown distance of 128 meters was considered good.
At touchdown, the aircraft's speed was measured at 55 knots, which was also deemed to be within acceptable parameters. Nevertheless, the aircraft exhibited a hard touchdown rate of -419 feet per minute (fpm). One noticeable area of concern was the misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was significantly off-center by 16.1 meters.
On the day of the landing, the local weather conditions consisted of a temperature of 17°C and a relatively calm wind speed of 3 knots, blowing from 358°. There was no crosswind component, and the headwind speed was zero. The total landing distance, including stopping roll, was recorded at 1,082 meters, accounting for around 64% of the runway's length.
The runway rollout alignment also presented issues, with the aircraft drifting off-center by 16.4 meters. Despite these concerns, the overall performance of the Kodiak 100 during the landing was satisfactory, as demonstrated by the scored 85.4%. However, areas for improvement were identified, particularly with regards to maintaining alignment and ensuring optimal speed during touchdown.
