MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,014 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,014 m of the 2,796 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 886 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Kaohsiung International Airport, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 27, and the takeoff distance was 1,583 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 169 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 10 knots at 270 degrees, with no crosswind but a headwind of 10 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile west of the airport and continued until it reached an altitude of 36,173 feet above sea level. This climb, which covered a distance of 166 nautical miles, took 27 minutes and resulted in an increase of 35,143 feet in altitude. The aircraft then entered a level cruise, which started 6 miles south of Jiufen and lasted for 76 minutes, covering a distance of 590 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 16 miles southwest of Satsumasendai, Japan, and lasted for 29 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 36,061 feet to 2,268 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 126 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, which started 10 miles northwest of Shingu, Japan, and lasted for 11 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 16 at Fukuoka Airport took place from the northwest, with the aircraft heading at 150.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on runway 16, which had a length of 2,796 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 138 knots.
The touchdown point was 468 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 130 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -116 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 23.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 10 knots at 140 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 10 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,932 meters, which accounted for 69% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 25.4 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 904 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 155 minutes, during which the aircraft used 7,339 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at RJFF Fukuoka Airport, achieving a score of 79.8%. The final approach to runway 16 was initiated from the north-west, heading 150.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 138 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 468 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the intended landing spot. However, the touchdown speed of 130 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -116 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 23.8 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the deviation from the touchdown zone.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a wind speed of 10 knots at 140°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 10 knots, which may have assisted the aircraft in maintaining its alignment during the approach.
The total landing distance of 1,932 meters was 69% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 25.4 meters from the centerline, which may have resulted from the initial touchdown position being off-center.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some deviations from the intended landing spot and alignment, which may require attention from the pilots to improve their performance.
