Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,353 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 357 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an RJ100, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LOWS Salzburg Airport. This process took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 15, with the aircraft taking off after covering 57% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,323 meters, and the liftoff speed was 139 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 17°C temperature and a wind speed of 5 knots at 313°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the tailwind was 4 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile southwest of Salzburg, Austria, and the aircraft ascended from 2,448 feet above sea level to 31,464 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,017 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 117 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began overhead Ronchi dei Legionari in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, and lasted for 65 minutes, covering a distance of 501 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 1 mile southeast of Valguarnera Caropepe in Sicilia, Italy, and descended from 31,517 feet above sea level to 6,008 feet above sea level, a decrease of 25,508 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 92 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 3 miles west of Mellieha in Malta, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 1 mile south of Dingli in Malta, and descended from 6,024 feet above sea level to 3,007 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,016 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 20 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 15 miles southeast of Birzebbuga in Malta, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 8 miles southeast of Birzebbuga, and descended from 3,104 feet above sea level to 1,521 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,583 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 31 at LMML Malta International Airport took place from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 314.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,249 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 31 took place on a runway length of 3,353 meters, with a good threshold height. The threshold speed was good at 115 knots, and the touchdown distance was good at 358 meters. The touchdown speed was 106 knots, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -145 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.3 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 22°C temperature and a wind speed of 9 knots at 40°. The crosswind was 9 knots, and the headwind was 1 knot. The total landing distance was 963 meters, which was 29% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 759 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 124 minutes. The aircraft used 4,383 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The RJ100 aircraft successfully landed at LMML Malta International Airport, achieving a high score of 97.7%. The final approach to runway 31 was conducted from the south east, with a heading of 314.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,249 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 115 knots. The touchdown distance was within acceptable limits at 358 meters, and the touchdown speed of 106 knots was also good. The touchdown rate was smooth, with a descent rate of -145 feet per minute.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway touchdown position, with the aircraft being 3.3 meters off-centerline. This may be attributed to the crosswind component of 9 knots, which was blowing from the side. The headwind component of 1 knot was relatively minimal.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a wind speed of 9 knots at 40°. The aircraft's total landing distance was 963 meters, which is approximately 29% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled throughout the approach and landing phases.
The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and was able to bring the aircraft to a stop in a straight line. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot's skills and the aircraft's performance were well-coordinated to achieve a high score.
