MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,643 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 234 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, the A400M began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. Upon reaching runway 01L, the aircraft initiated its departure roll, utilizing 40% of the 3,600-meter runway to achieve liftoff at a speed of 154 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 6°C, with a gentle wind of 3 knots at a direction of 60°, resulting in a negligible crosswind and headwind component.
As the aircraft climbed away from Gardermoen, it transitioned into an enroute climb, ascending from 1,691 feet above sea level to 31,211 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 121 nautical miles. The climb rate was impressive, with an increase of 29,520 feet in a relatively short period. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, initially reducing altitude from 31,201 feet to 18,804 feet in just 3 minutes, covering 43 nautical miles. This was followed by a brief level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes and covering 10 nautical miles, before the aircraft commenced its final descent, reducing altitude from 18,140 feet to 1,357 feet in 11 minutes, covering 49 nautical miles.
The A400M then initiated its final approach to runway 08L at Aalborg Airport, Denmark, from the west, aligning itself with the runway at a height of 1,332 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on the 2,643-meter runway, with a touchdown distance of 237 meters, slightly above the optimal threshold speed of 146 knots. The touchdown speed of 145 knots was a little fast, resulting in a hard touchdown rate of -581 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, but the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 11.2 meters from the centerline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, a process that took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 231 nautical miles, with a total fuel consumption of -37,309 kilograms.
The final approach to runway 08L at EKYT Aalborg Airport from the west was executed with a heading of 83.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,332 feet above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the desired level, reaching 146 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft displayed a touchdown distance of 237 meters, which was within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 145 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -581 feet per minute. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 8°C and a gentle headwind of 4 knots, contributed to a smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,248 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 11.2 meters from the centreline. Despite this minor deviation, the overall performance of the landing was satisfactory, earning a score of 90.4%.
