Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,715 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,097 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a FNX320_TCACFM, then departed from runway 09 at Simón Bolívar International Airport (SVMI). The takeoff distance was 3,528 feet, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 151 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 95 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 3 knots at 85 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, but there was a headwind of 2 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Maiquetia, a location in the Estado La Guaira, Venezuela, and involved a significant increase in altitude from 1,096 feet above sea level to 30,979 feet above sea level. This climb covered a distance of 71 nautical miles and took 13 minutes.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 19 miles east of the Higuerote Airport (SVHG) in the Miranda, Venezuela. This phase lasted for 16 minutes and covered a distance of 115 nautical miles. The descent phase began 11 miles north of El Tigre in the Estado Anzoategui, Venezuela, and involved a decrease in altitude from 30,612 feet above sea level to 1,672 feet above sea level. This descent covered a distance of 101 nautical miles and took 20 minutes.
The final approach to runway 08 at General Manuel Carlos Piar International Airport (SVPR) was made from the southwest, with a heading of 64.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,205 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 08, which had a length of 6,715 feet. The threshold height was well above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 134 knots.
The touchdown point was 734 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 135 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -282 feet per minute. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 30 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions during the landing were a temperature of 92 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 3 knots at 102 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total flight distance was 294 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 69 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 6,842 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, FNX320_TCACFM, successfully landed on runway 08 at SVPR General Manuel Carlos Piar International Airport. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 64.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,205 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the landing was evaluated, and it scored 65.7%.
The aircraft's approach to the runway was satisfactory, with a threshold height that was well above the target. This indicates that the aircraft had sufficient altitude to safely touch down on the runway. The threshold speed was also good, at 134 knots, which is within the acceptable range for a safe landing. However, the touchdown point was 734 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing path.
The touchdown speed of 135 knots was good, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down safely and smoothly before touching down on the runway. However, the touchdown rate of -282 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slightly higher-than-desired rate of descent during the landing. This could be due to various factors, including the aircraft's configuration, the pilot's technique, or the wind conditions.
The runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 30 feet from the centerline, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing path. This could be due to various factors, including the aircraft's alignment during the approach, the wind conditions, or the pilot's technique.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 92°F and a wind speed of 3 knots at 102°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions were likely to have had a minimal impact on the aircraft's performance during the landing. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some areas for improvement, including the touchdown rate and the runway touchdown position.
