Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,319 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 254 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 11R at Indira Gandhi International Airport, VIDP. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 145 kt, covering a distance of 795 m, which was 34% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 32 °C and a wind speed of 3 kt from a direction of 83°, resulting in a headwind component of 3 kt.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile south of the airport. The climb was steep, with the aircraft ascending from 1,761 ft to 1,896 ft in less than 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nm. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nm.
The final approach to runway 11R was initiated from the west, with the aircraft heading 104.0° at an altitude of 189 ft above ground level (agl) and a distance of 0 nm from the runway threshold. However, the pilot decided to execute a go-around at an altitude of 34 ft agl, likely due to a decision to re-evaluate the approach or to avoid a potential landing issue.
The aircraft subsequently re-established its approach and landed on runway 11R, which had a length of 2,319 m. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 125 kt, at 125 kt. The touchdown distance was good at 130 m, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 122 kt. The touchdown rate was fair at -222 fpm, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 °C and a wind speed of 1 kt from a direction of 270°, resulting in a tailwind component of 1 kt. The total landing distance was 1,106 m, which was 48% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, covering a distance of less than 1 nm in less than 1 minute. The total flight distance was 10 nm, and the flight duration was 9 minutes. The aircraft used 360 kg of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed on runway 11R at Indira Gandhi International Airport (VIDP) with a score of 87.1%. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 104.0° at an altitude of 189 feet above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the runway.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 125 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been slightly aggressive in their approach, but still managed to maintain control of the aircraft. The touchdown distance was also good, measuring 130 meters, which is within the acceptable range.
However, the touchdown speed of 122 knots was a little fast, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to reduce the touchdown speed. The touchdown rate of -222 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, suggesting that the aircraft was able to absorb the impact of landing relatively well.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and a slight tailwind of 1 knot, which did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,106 meters was 48% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, while there were some minor issues with the landing, such as the slightly high threshold speed and touchdown speed, the pilot was able to successfully land the aircraft on the runway with a good threshold height and touchdown distance. The score of 87.1% reflects the overall performance of the pilot and the aircraft during the landing.
