Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 5,975 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,497 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 36 at KGLS Scholes International At Galveston Airport, with a takeoff distance of 2,531 feet, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 98 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 61°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 269°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 0 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile north of KGLS Scholes International At Galveston Airport, and climbed from an altitude of 1,035 feet above sea level to 26,003 feet above sea level, an increase of 24,968 feet, in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 43 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles southeast of Damon, Texas, and lasted for 13 minutes, covering a distance of 156 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 5 miles north of Moody, Texas, and descended from an altitude of 25,999 feet above sea level to 18,386 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,612 feet, in 9 minutes and covering a distance of 39 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 3 miles northwest of 37XS Lake Whitney Country Club Airport, Whitney, Texas, and lasted for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 29 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 1 mile northwest of TA11 Tsa Gliderport Midlothian, Texas, and descended from an altitude of 17,387 feet above sea level to 2,186 feet above sea level, a decrease of 15,201 feet, in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 30 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 36 at KHQZ Mesquite Metro Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 2.0°, at an altitude of 1,716 feet above ground level, and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 36, which had a length of 5,975 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 86 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 1,495 feet, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 75 knots. The touchdown rate was excellent at -83 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 0 knots.
The total landing distance was 3,042 feet, which accounted for 51% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 307 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 69 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 542 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft in question, identified as an M500, successfully landed at KHQZ Mesquite Metro Airport, showcasing a high level of proficiency in its operation. The final approach to runway 36, which is located at the airport, was conducted from the south with a heading of 2.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,716 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated a good threshold height, which is a critical aspect of safe landing operations. The threshold speed, which is the speed at which the aircraft touches down on the runway, was also satisfactory at 86 knots. However, the touchdown speed of 75 knots was slightly faster than ideal, indicating that the pilot may have been able to make adjustments to achieve a more optimal touchdown speed.
The touchdown distance, which is the distance between the point where the aircraft touches down on the runway and the point where it comes to a complete stop, was good at 1,495 feet. This is a significant aspect of landing operations, as it affects the overall safety and efficiency of the process. The touchdown rate, which is the rate at which the aircraft descends onto the runway, was excellent at -83 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The runway touchdown alignment, which refers to the alignment of the aircraft with the runway at the point of touchdown, was perfect. This is a critical aspect of landing operations, as it affects the overall safety and efficiency of the process. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°.
The total landing distance, which is the distance between the point where the aircraft begins its descent and the point where it comes to a complete stop, was 3,042 feet, which is 51% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the pilot was able to make efficient use of the runway. The runway rollout alignment, which refers to the alignment of the aircraft with the runway as it comes to a complete stop, was also perfect.
Overall, the landing of the M500 at KHQZ Mesquite Metro Airport was a successful operation, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its operation. The pilot's ability to navigate the aircraft safely and efficiently, despite slightly faster than ideal touchdown speed, is a testament to their skill and experience.
